Additional Explanations

Page 1 Part 1 Line 1 Organizations Mission

Page 1 part 1 line 1 organizations mission the justice league is a crime victims rights legal clinic that provides free legal assistance to victims of crime to protect and preserve crime victims statutory and constitutional rights. The justice league also provides free crime victims rights training to advocates, law enforcement prosecutors courts and the public and crime victim resource referrals

Page 2 Part III Line 28

Page 2 part iii line 28 direct advocacy and legal assistance to victims of crime the justice league provided direct assistance and direct legal assistance to 193 crime victims to protect and preserve their statutory and constitutional rights. Assisting crime victims in protecting their legal rights is an intense time consuming process. In each case a full intake is conducted which entails obtaining all records pertaining to the crime to properly assess whether or not a crime victims rights violation has occurred. Once substantiated, a process begins to work with justice officials to remedy rights violations and represent crime victims is essential to ensure a fair, just, and balanced criminal justice process.

Page 2 Part III Line 29

Page 2 part iii line 29 victims rights training to hospital personnel, justice officials, advocates and the community the justice league provides free victims rights training to hospital personnel, law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, advocates, and the community throughout the state of ohio to ensure consistent application of crime victims rights laws. The justice league provided crime victims rights training to over 100 justice officials, advocates and community organizations/ this training is essential in ensuring consistent application and enforcement of crime victims right. Unfortunately throughout ohio many justice officials, advocates and community organizations are not aware of crime victims rights, laws and their statutory duty of providing the crime victims with information about their rights. When citizens are not informed of their rights, they are not able to exercise those rights. The justice league works to educate justice officials, advocates, and community organizations about crime victims rights.

Page 2 Part III Line 30

Page 2 part iii line 30 victim resource referrals the justice league has a resource referral database of over 750 resources for crime victims throughout the state of ohio. Although the justice league provides direct legal assistance to protect and preserve crime victims rights, the justic league takes a holistic approach to serving each crime victim. Crime victims often need other support such as community, and information about available shelters and rape crisis centers. The justice league not only provides information about how to contact local agencies and organizations, but also work with each victim to ensure they have been able to obtain those services. If not, the justice league finds available services in the nearest proximity to the victim. In addition, many crime victims need additional legal assistance that arise as a result of the crime such as domestic relations, landlord/tenant issues and immigration to name a few. The justice league works to connect crime victims with assistance through contact with legal aid and other local resources in order to provide full wrap around services for crime victims.
