Seeking to put god's love into action, habitat for humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope to realize our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat for humanity central arizona adheres to a strict non-proselytizing policy and will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

Building simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need.

Governance Explanations

The finance committee is presented the draft 990 prior to filing. The following week the board of directors is presented the draft for their review and approval. If there are still pending items that won't be resolved before the next meeting, but the return will need to be filed, then conditional approval will be given and the staff is responsible for notifying the finance committee and the board of any items that were changed.

Currently there are no ongoing conflict of interest tranactions. If any conflicts are disclosed they are submitted to the secretary. Upon the disclosure of an actual or potential conflict of interest of a director, officer or staff person the board secretary will disclose the conflict to the board who can then vote on the conflict with the person in question excused from the room with the minutes reflecting the vote and that the interested party did not take part in the vote.

IRS990/Desc0HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CENTRAL ARIZONA IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE TOP TEN AFFILIATES AMONG THE NEARLY 1,600 HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AFFILIATES IN THE UNITED STATES.FOR FY 13-14 WE BUILT 49 NEW HOMES, RENOVATED 11 HOMES AND REPAIRED 238 HOMES. AVONDALE WE COMPLETED SIX HOMES IN HILLCREST VILLAGE, OUR 37-HOME COMMUNITY. HILLCREST VILLAGE OFFERS THREE TO FIVE-BEDROOM SINGLE-FAMILY DETACHED HOMES WITH GARAGE AND A HOA. MESA TWO NEW INFILL HOMES WERE COMPLETED AND TWO RENOVATED HOMES WERE COMPLETED. THE CITY OF MESA HOME FUNDS PROVIDED $40,000.00 IN DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE FOR TWO OF THE FOUR HOMES.CHANDLER ONE SINGLE FAMILY DETACHED HOME WAS COMPLETED IN CHANDLER. THIS HOME MARKED THE FIRST RECONSTRUCT PROJECT OUR AFFILIATED HAS COMPLETED. IN ADDITION TO THE RECONSTRUCT WE BUILT ONE NEW HOME ON AN INFILL LOT.GLENDALE - WE COMPLETED TEN NEW HOMES AND RENOVATED THREE VACANT HOMES. PEORIA THREE VACANT FORECLOSED HOMES WERE RENOVATED AND THREE NEW HOMES WERE BUILT. PHOENIX WE COMPLETED TWO RENOVATIONS OF VACANT FORECLOSED HOMES. ONE NEW HOME WAS BUILT ON AN INFILL LOT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF PHOENIX YOUTHBUILD PROGRAM AND WILL BE CERTIFIED LEED PLATINUM. IN ADDITION TO THE YOUTHBUILD BUILD WE COMPLETED ONE ADDITIONAL NEW BUILD ON AN IN-FILL LOT. SEVEN HOMES WERE COMPLETED IN OUR VISTA DEL SOL SUBDIVISION. THESE HOMES WILL BE LEED CERTIFIED SILVER.SCOTTSDALE WE COMPLETED 8 UNITS DURING OUR CONSTRUCTION BLITZ BUILD. THESE HOUSING APARTMENTS WILL SERVE AS TEMPORARY LIVING FOR FAMILIES IN NEED. THIS BUILD WAS COMPLETED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF SCOTTSDALE.SURPRISE - HABITAT COMPLETED THE CONSTRUCTION OF JOHNSON TOWNHOMES WITH THE FINAL CONSTRUCTION OF 9 UNITS. THIS DEVELOPMENT HAS 48 TOWNHOMES AND WILL BE CERTIFIED LEED SILVER.COOLIDGE WE RENOVATED ONE VACANT FORECLOSED HOME MARKING OUR FIRST APPEARANCE IN THE CITY OF COOLIDGE.RENOVATION/REPAIR HABITAT RENOVATED A TOTAL OF 11 HOMES THAT HAD BEEN VACANT AND FORECLOSED. IN ADDITION, WE BECAME THE PROVIDER FOR THE CITY OF CHANDLER EMERGENCY HOME REPAIR PROGRAM. 43 HOMES AND FAMILIES WERE SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. WE CONTINUED TO BE THE PROVIDER FOR THE CITY OF GLENDALE EMERGENCY HOME REPAIR PROGRAM WITH 134 HOMES AND FAMILIES BEING SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. WE ALSO SERVED AN ADDITIONAL 61 HOMES WITH OUR HOME REPAIR PROGRAM.ADDITIONALLY: - WE PARTNERED WITH 6,599 VOLUNTEERS WHO SPENT OVER 107,000 VOLUNTEER HOURS TO HELP WITH HOME CONSTRUCTION, PROPERTY MAINTENANCE, COMMITTEE WORK, OFFICE SUPPORT, OUTREACH, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT IN OUR RESTORES.
