Activity 2

YouthBuild is an academic recovery and workforce training project for youth ages 16-24 who have quit school. The Program engages young men and women, most of whom have completed high school and all of whom come from low income families. YouthBuild enables them to serve their communities by building affordable housing, learning technology skills, completing their education, and assists them in transforming their lives and roles in society. The program served 100 youth during the fiscal year ended 6-30-13.

Activity 3

SA Youth operates 17 Out of School Time Centers, as 21st Century Community Learning Centers, which provide expanded academic enrichment opportunities for children attending low performing schools. Tutorial services and academic enrichment activities are designed to help students meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading, science, and math. Also, the program provides youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, technology education programs, art, music, recreational programs, and character education to enhance academics, physical well-being, and life skills. The 17 centers served 3,600 individuals during the fiscal year ended 6-30-13.
