Activity 2

YouthBuild Program engages unemployed young men and women, most of whom have not completed high school and all of whom come from low-income families. YouthBuild enables them to serve their communities by building affordable housing, learning technology skills, completing their education, and assists them in transforming their lives and roles in society. The program served 145 youth during the fiscal year ended 6-30-12.

Activity 3

21st Century Community Learning Centers provide expanded academic enrichment opportunities for children attending low performing schools. Tutorial services and academic enrichment activiites are designed to help students meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading and math. In addition, the program provides youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, technology education programs, art, music, recreational programs, counseling, and character education to enhance the academic component of the program. The program served 3,158 individuals during the fiscal year ended 6-30-12.
