| The annual Scientific Conference, quarterly Chapter meetings and collaborative care workshop provided the following:A) The scientific conference, "New Twists and Trysts in 2019 Psychiatry: Pills, Pot Parasomnias, Privilege, Pregnancy and Peripartum Issues," presented new challenges for the psychiatrist who have the ethical responsibility to maintain confidentiality of their patients expressions yet have the social and legal responsibility to ensure protection of potential victims of patients, coupled with new responsibilities of supervising non-physicians in collaborative practice. Increasing use of benzodiazepines in sleep disorders and new regulations governing scheduled drugs and liberation of medical marijuana present everyday challenges of treating patients. Treatments of peri-partum depression and psychosis deserve discussion with newer and safer treatments. B) The Central Oklahoma Psychiatric Society local chapter also sponsored the following programs: (a) Marijuana: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; (b) Unlocking Implicit Bias: How our Hidden Attitudes are Affecting How We Can Care for Patients; (c) Scholarly Projects from Psychiatry's Next Generation;(d) Medical Associations: Organizations of the Past or Key to Survival in the Future; (e) Correctional Psychiatry 2019; (f) Ketamine Enantiomers: Efficacy, Mechanism of Action and CLinical Implications; (g) The Holidays, Winter and Mental Health; (h) Talk Saves Lives; and (i) Trends in Racial Differences in Psychiatric Hospitalizations in the United States (2010-2014). The Tulsa Psychiatric Association local chapter also sponsored the following programs: (a) Cannabis and Psychiatry; (b) Trivia Night: Test Your Knowledge in General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry; and (c) Project Blue Streets: Tulsa's Protocol for Medical Clearance of Psychiatric Patients.
