Mission

The central coast agricultural water quality coalition represents the agricultural community in the development and implementation of voluntary, cost-effective, producer-directed programs to protect water quality in the california central coast watershed.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Office of Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Coordinated meetings with a Technical Advisory Committee to establish best implementation strategies and to advance outreach and technical support initiatives for this community. Identified several part-time Cantonese-English translators from within the grower community and investigated options for establishing a permanent position to provide outreach and translation services to this community. Held three workshops to provide education and assistance with water quality regulatory compliance. Each workshop was attended by about 60 people. In partnership with University of Ca., held three workshops on implementing Food Safety Plans and performed mock food safety audit. Each workshop was attended by about 60 people. Began conducting a needs assessment with agencies, technical providers and growers in this community. Received a one-year no cost extension for this grant.$34,222-
Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency (PVWMA) Continued to develop an implementation plan for the Conservation chapter of the Basin Management Plan Update 2012. Coordinated with stakeholders and technical experts to develop a robust plan for accomplishing agricultural water conservation goals. Participated in the Community Water Dialogue planning committee and served as a liaison to this group and the PVWMA. Performed outreach with stakeholders on BMP program development and solicited feedback Coordinated with technical providers to provide irrigation efficiency services to growers in the Pajaro Valley.$25,423-
