THE LCB HAD BOOTHS AT TULSA COMMUNITY COLLEGE GLOBALFEST AND THE ASIAN AMERICAN FESTIVAL USING VOLUNTEERS FROM OUR PARTNERS FROM THE OKLAHOMA MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS. LCB HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH LATINOS EN LA PRENSA THREE AMERICA'S PREPAREATHON TRAININGS FOR THE SPANISH LANGUAGE MEDIA IN TULSA AND OKLAHOMA CITY. THE TRAININGS FOCUSED ON EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION AND CORRECTING COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT WHAT TO DO DURING A SEVERE WEATHER EVENT. LATINOS EN LA PRENSA WAS FORMED AFTER OUR FIRST AMERICA'S PREPAREATHON TRAINING ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2015 TO ENCOURAGE THE SHARING OF INFORMATION BY MEMBERS OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE MEDIA, ESPECIALLY CONCERNING EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS. ALTHOUGH NOT ADMINISTERED BY THE DRBC, TULSA PARTNERS HELD A STATEWIDE DISASTER MANAGEMENT FOR LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES WORKSHOP IN OKLAHOMA FOR OVER 70 LONG TERM CARE AND ASSISTED LIVING ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF. LOCALLY, THE DRBC BEGAN DISCUSSIONS WITH SUSTAINABLE TULSA ON THE INCLUSION OF BUSINESS CONTINUITY IN THEIR BUSINESS SCORECARD PROGRAM THAT MEASURES SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. THE DRBC IS LISTED IN THE CITY OF TULSA PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION AS ASSISTING WITH SHARING INFORMATION WITH BUSINESSES ON PLANNING FOR FLOODS AND OTHER DISASTERS. -ANOTHER COLLABORATIVE COMMITTEE COORDINATES THE MILLENNIUM CENTER PROJECT (MC). IBHS HELD THE FIRST FORTIFIED EVALUATOR AND FORTIFIED WISE WORKSHOPS IN TULSA IN APRIL AT TULSA HBA. THE FORTIFIED WISE CLASS HAD OVER 25 PEOPLE REPRESENTING A VARIETY OF ENTITIES, A RECORD FOR SUCH AN IBHS CLASS IN A NEW AREA. IN MAY, A PRESENTATION WAS OFFERED ON THE FORTIFIED PROGRAM TO SUSTAINABLE TULSA FIRST THURSDAY PROGRAM. A COUPLE OF CASES STILL HAVE UNMET NEEDS AS OF JUNE 2016, ADDITIONALLY, TULSA PARTNERS IS PARTICIPATING IN A SEPARATE TULSA AREA LONG TERM RECOVERY COMMITTEE FOR MARCH 30, 2016 EF 2 TORNADO, WITH OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SERVING AS AN ADVISOR ON THEIR STEERING COMMITTEE. TULSA AREA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY REPORTED DAMAGE TO 301 HOMES IN THIS STORM. THE AREA IMPACTED BY THE 2016 TORNADO HAS A RATE OF POVERTY RANGING FROM 35.2% TO 67.5% PER THE 2014-2015 HUD QUALIFIED CENSUS TRACK DATA, OVER 2 TO 4 TIMES THE COUNTY AVERAGE OF 14.8% (2010-2014 DATA). RECOVERY WORK THIS STORM WILL CONTINUE INTO THE COMING FISCAL YEAR. -LAST FISCAL YEAR WE SET UP A COMMUNITY RESILIENCE SPEAKERS BUREAU WITH OVER 25 MEMBERS AVAILABLE TO SPEAK ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS. MOST REQUESTS FOR PRESENTATIONS HAVE COME THROUGH THE WORK OF OUR PROGRAM COMMITTEES. THERE WAS INCREASED INTEREST IN SPEAKERS DURING SPRING STORM SEASON FROM GROUPS LIKE THE DOWNTOWN LIONS CLUB AND FROM A CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT COMMUNITY MEETING. THIS ENDEAVOR WILL NEED TO BE REVIEWED FOR THE COMING YEAR. -DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE HAD A CONTRACT AND FEE FOR SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH THE LOWLANDER CENTER IN LOUISIANA. ONE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED WAS AN AGREEMENT WITH THE LOWLANDER CENTER TO WORK ON BUSINESS CONTINUITY WORKSHOPS, WHOSE ACTIVITIES WILL CARRY OVER TO THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR. MUCH OF THE WORK ON THAT CONTRACT THIS FISCAL YEAR INVOLVED BACKGROUND RESEARCH AND PLANNING FOR THE WORKSHOPS. A SECOND ACTIVITY PAID FOR BY HONORARIUM AND TRAVEL EXPENSES WITH THE LOWLANDER CENTER INVOLVED CO-FACILITATING A COMMUNITY PLANNING WORKSHOP IN JANUARY FOR A TRIBAL COMMUNITY ON THE ISLE DE JEAN CHARLES IN LOUISIANA. THIS COMMUNITY WAS ANTICIPATING A POTENTIAL GRANT FROM HUD FOR THE MOVEMENT OF THE TRIBE OFF THE ISLAND DUE TO SEA LEVEL RISE AND WANTED TO BEGIN PLANNING BOTH IF THEY DID RECEIVE THE GRANT BUT ALSO IF THEY DID NOT. (THEY WERE AWARDED THE GRANT.) -WE CONTINUED A CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF TULSA THROUGH FLANAGAN AND ASSOCIATES ON FACILITATING A PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION RELATED TO THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM'S (NFIP) COMMUNITY RATING SYSTEM (CRS). AS A COMMUNITY THAT PARTICIPATES IN THE CRS PROGRAM OF THE NFIP, THE TULSA CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR ADOPTED THE PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION (PPI) PLAN WRITTEN BY TULSA PARTNERS ON DECEMBER 14, 2014. TULSA PARTNERS REPORTS TO A COMMUNITY TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE CITY OF TULSA STORMWATER DRAINAGE AND HAZARD MITIGATION ADVISORY BOARD AS WELL AS CITY STAFF. “Tulsa partners promotes its mission through a variety of collaborative efforts of public outreach coordinated by our paid staff, with leadership from volunteers and the involvement of organizational partners. -one collaborative endeavor is the language & culture bank. A grassroots network of multicultural and multilingual groups, the tulsa partners language and culture bank (lcb) works with these many communities to help their members prepare for disasters, and to help all people receive emergency communications in a way they can understand. The lcb had booths at tulsa community college globalfest and the asian american festival using volunteers from our partners from the oklahoma medical reserve corps. Lcb held in conjunction with latinos en la prensa three america's prepareathon trainings for the spanish language media in tulsa and oklahoma city. The trainings focused on emergency preparedness information and correcting common misconceptions about what to do during a severe weather event. Latinos en la prensa was formed after our first america's prepareathon training on september 30, 2015 to encourage the sharing of information by members of the spanish language media, especially concerning emergency preparedness. We facilitated an emergency planning meeting for a mobile home park community made up of primarily spanish speaking residents concerned about what to do during high wind events and in an area previously affected by flooding. We have continued monthly meetings at the local american red cross office to coordinate activities among the different cultural communities on preparedness. -another collaborative committee, tulsa partners' disaster resistant business council (drbc), is a public/private partnership designed to educate businesses and nonprofits about the need for emergency and continuity planning, to offer networking opportunities for those interested in business emergency and continuity planning, and to assist in promoting the critical role of businesses and nonprofits in a community's disaster resiliency. Nationally, the drbc participated in the 2016 national tornado summit with information at a corporate member's booth and with a representative participating in the u.s. Chamber of commerce foundation center for corporate citizenship disaster issue shaping meeting. Regionally, our drbc chair david hall spoke at the tri-state resiliency summit in ruston, la. We have begun work on a contract with the lowlander center in louisiana on developing business continuity workshops. Although not administered by the drbc, tulsa partners held a statewide disaster management for long term care facilities workshop in oklahoma for over 70 long term care and assisted living administrators and staff. Locally, the drbc began discussions with sustainable tulsa on the inclusion of business continuity in their business scorecard program that measures sustainable business practices. The drbc is listed in the city of tulsa program for public information as assisting with sharing information with businesses on planning for floods and other disasters. -another collaborative committee coordinates the millennium center project (mc). The mc a collaborative venture between tulsa partners and other entities to help people live safely and in harmony with nature and is particularly focused on stronger building standards and low impact development. It uses a "center without walls" approach of education and collaborative demonstration projects, and wants to promote a "resilience for all" approach that makes sure everyone has access to resilient homes. The mc had presentations on low impact development and severe weather and a booth at the 2016 landscape and remodel show in january, an exhibit table at tcc sustainability conference in february and an exhibitor table at the 2016 enviro expo for earth day in april. A major focus of this year for the mc has been the partnership with the insurance institute for business and home safety on implementi”

WE FACILITATED AN EMERGENCY PLANNING MEETING FOR A MOBILE HOME PARK COMMUNITY MADE UP OF PRIMARILY SPANISH SPEAKING RESIDENTS CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT TO DO DURING HIGH WIND EVENTS AND IN AN AREA PREVIOUSLY AFFECTED BY FLOODING. WE HAVE CONTINUED MONTHLY MEETINGS AT THE LOCAL AMERICAN RED CROSS OFFICE TO COORDINATE ACTIVITIES AMONG THE DIFFERENT CULTURAL COMMUNITIES ON PREPAREDNESS. -ANOTHER COLLABORATIVE COMMITTEE, TULSA PARTNERS' DISASTER RESISTANT BUSINESS COUNCIL (DRBC), IS A PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP DESIGNED TO EDUCATE BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS ABOUT THE NEED FOR EMERGENCY AND CONTINUITY PLANNING, TO OFFER NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BUSINESS EMERGENCY AND CONTINUITY PLANNING, AND TO ASSIST IN PROMOTING THE CRITICAL ROLE OF BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS IN A COMMUNITY'S DISASTER RESILIENCY. WE FACILITATED AN EMERGENCY PLANNING MEETING FOR A MOBILE HOME PARK COMMUNITY MADE UP OF PRIMARILY SPANISH SPEAKING RESIDENTS CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT TO DO DURING HIGH WIND EVENTS AND IN AN AREA PREVIOUSLY AFFECTED BY FLOODING. WE HAVE CONTINUED MONTHLY MEETINGS AT THE LOCAL AMERICAN RED CROSS OFFICE TO COORDINATE ACTIVITIES AMONG THE DIFFERENT CULTURAL COMMUNITIES ON PREPAREDNESS. -ANOTHER COLLABORATIVE COMMITTEE, TULSA PARTNERS' DISASTER RESISTANT BUSINESS COUNCIL (DRBC), IS A PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP DESIGNED TO EDUCATE BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS ABOUT THE NEED FOR EMERGENCY AND CONTINUITY PLANNING, TO OFFER NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BUSINESS EMERGENCY AND CONTINUITY PLANNING, AND TO ASSIST IN PROMOTING THE CRITICAL ROLE OF BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS IN A COMMUNITY'S DISASTER RESILIENCY. NATIONALLY, THE DRBC PARTICIPATED IN THE 2016 NATIONAL TORNADO SUMMIT WITH INFORMATION AT A CORPORATE MEMBER'S BOOTH AND WITH A REPRESENTATIVE PARTICIPATING IN THE U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION CENTER FOR CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP DISASTER ISSUE SHAPING MEETING. REGIONALLY, OUR DRBC CHAIR DAVID HALL SPOKE AT THE TRI-STATE RESILIENCY SUMMIT IN RUSTON, LA. WE HAVE BEGUN WORK ON A CONTRACT WITH THE LOWLANDER CENTER IN LOUISIANA ON DEVELOPING BUSINESS CONTINUITY WORKSHOPS. ALTHOUGH NOT ADMINISTERED BY THE DRBC, TULSA PARTNERS HELD A STATEWIDE DISASTER MANAGEMENT FOR LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES WORKSHOP IN OKLAHOMA FOR OVER 70 LONG TERM CARE AND ASSISTED LIVING ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF. LOCALLY, THE DRBC BEGAN DISCUSSIONS WITH SUSTAINABLE TULSA ON THE INCLUSION OF BUSINESS CONTINUITY IN THEIR BUSINESS SCORECARD PROGRAM THAT MEASURES SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. THE DRBC IS LISTED IN THE CITY OF TULSA PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION AS ASSISTING WITH SHARING INFORMATION WITH BUSINESSES ON PLANNING FOR FLOODS AND OTHER DISASTERS. -ANOTHER COLLABORATIVE COMMITTEE COORDINATES THE MILLENNIUM CENTER PROJECT (MC). THE MC A COLLABORATIVE VENTURE BETWEEN TULSA PARTNERS AND OTHER ENTITIES TO HELP PEOPLE LIVE SAFELY AND IN HARMONY WITH NATURE AND IS PARTICULARLY FOCUSED ON STRONGER BUILDING STANDARDS AND LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT. IT USES A "CENTER WITHOUT WALLS" APPROACH OF EDUCATION AND COLLABORATIVE DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS, AND WANTS TO PROMOTE A "RESILIENCE FOR ALL" APPROACH THAT MAKES SURE EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO RESILIENT HOMES. THE MC HAD PRESENTATIONS ON LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT AND SEVERE WEATHER AND A BOOTH AT THE 2016 LANDSCAPE AND REMODEL SHOW IN JANUARY, AN EXHIBIT TABLE AT TCC SUSTAINABILITY CONFERENCE IN FEBRUARY AND AN EXHIBITOR TABLE AT THE 2016 ENVIRO EXPO FOR EARTH DAY IN APRIL.
