“The YMCA has members that use the facilities for activities, fitness equipment and fitness classes. The YMCA facilities and activities are aimed at youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for the community. Members are subject to membership fees as established by the board.”

“Board of directors and officers meet monthly for board meetings. The board is responsible for deciding policies of the YMCA and hiring the executive director. A quorum is required to take action. The meetings are normally the fourth monday of every month. The board votes for the officers. This is the same structure as set out in the original by-laws.”

“The board are members of the YMCA. They are chosen from volunteers and members of the YMCA. The board makes policy decisions. Board members are posted in the reception area of the building. Members do not make direct decisions. The board makes decisions on behalf of the members, as they are members representing all members. Members of the board of directors must retire from active membership on the board for at least one year after serving two consecutive three year terms. The officers are elected annually at a board meeting. Minutes of meetings are recorded and approved at board meetings. The minutes are kept at the YMCA and are available for the public to review.”

“The tax return is presented at a board meeting and a motion is made to approve financials and tax return as presented respective to month or year end.”

We have minutes and financials that are kept at the YMCA that can be viewed by members or interested parties. The director is responsible for making these available upon request. The minutes and poicies that are approved by the board of directors are maintained by month and by type of policy. Monthly meetings are normally held at the YMCA during business hours.”
