“Small projects from oct. 2017 to march 2019, 38 small projects of type humanity (oral history, reading) or stem supported by eef were going on. 27 of them completed successfully, and 5 of them postponed their ending date to june 30, 2020 due to various teachers' conditions. Reading project competition during the 2017 small project window, a reading project competition was launched on the basis of the existing small project platform. The best reading project of 2017 is the project "reading and creating practice of calligraphy art" in tongwei no. 1 high school. We rewarded the team with book cards of 5000rmb for teachers and students. Teacher training - pbl & makerspace the goal of this one week training is to enhance the development of the already existing eef teacher training platform in bringing more viable opportunities to a far-reaching range of eef teachers so they can learn more about the pbl, maker education, and design thinking in rural areas in china. Guangxi oral history workshop on october 12-14, 2018, we held a two-and-a-half day workshop at the guangxi normal university affiliated secondary in guangxi, to explore how to better develop an oral history based secondary school curriculum together with 20+ rural secondary school teams who participated in our oral history small projects. About 51 teachers from guangxi, guizhou, yunnan, shaanxi, gansu and qinghai, 2 students, 2 grassroot libraries and about 10 staff and volunteers gathered together to address two core questions with various presentations, exercises, and discussions: what is the target understanding for students in oral history teaching and how to help students reach understanding through curricular design. Summer exchange programs for china left-behind students. For the past three years, the summer us-china student exchange program is enhancing mutual understanding of students life in their respective countries. We connected our us students with kids in rural china through online webinar and projects. Please refer to attachment a for progranm service expense breakdown.”
