“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Prevention & Care:Ebola Prevention Global Strategies ensures adequate personal protective gear and trained staff in the identification of Ebola are present at clinics in the Catholic Health Network in Liberia. The Catholic Health Network is present in approximately 2/3 of Liberian counties. A rapid response team was trained to assist rural clinics in the appropriate triage of potential Ebola cases.Childrens AIDS Programs (CAP) - A pediatric HIV clinic at Heal Africa Hospital in Goma, DRC, providing long term care for HIV affected children and postnatal care for HIV exposed infants. 702 HIV affected children* received care. HIV care for mothers- Identification of HIV positive pregnant women, initiation of antiretroviral medication to prevent transmission and care was provided to 75,585 women* at 68 clinics* in North & South Kivu Provinces, DRC, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. Youth Counseling and HIV testing- Provide counseling and HIV testing utilizing trained peer educators, teachers and community leaders in Bukavu, South Kivu, DRC. 20,449 individuals* reached. Rural Healthcare-Provide counseling and HIV testing, HIV management, PMTCT and family planning in rural Hwange district of Zimbabwe. GS, working with local partners, helped to establish and accredit 5 health clinics* and provided HIV treatment for 1,947 individuals.* Post exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)- Post rape medical care including HIV prevention, emergency contraception, sexually transmitted infection treatment, and referral to other needed services for survivors of rape in South Kivu Province, DRC. Real-time supply chain management overcomes barriers to reach survivors within the required 72 hours post violence. 950 survivors* presented for care in 13 clinics* operated in South Kivu. Malnutrition-community based screening, medical treatment and nutritional supplementations for moderate and severely malnourished children in Goma, DRC. 890 children* received careNewborn care Train nurses on essential newborn care, collect statistics on births and maternal and neonatal mortality to help improve care quality. Global Strategies collects daily data on births and deaths at the nurseries using remote digital data collection. 749 babies* were cared for at the Panzi NICU and 534 babies* at a nursery in North Kivu Province, DRC. Pediatric Rehabilitation-Identify manage and prevent common musculoskeletal and neurological impairments through physical therapy and rehabilitation, GS treated 551 children with extensive traumatic injuries and untreated congenital disabilities in Karnataka State, India. Education & Training: Education and training of healthcare providers is a component of every Global Strategies project. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we are currently supporting a physician receiving a specialization in pediatrics, a nurse who is receiving a Masters Degree in Public Health and a physician receiving a Masters in Health Program Administration. We are also supporting a cohort of nurses in Monrovia, Liberia.Monitoring and Evaluation:Global Strategies follows the highest standard in monitoring and evaluating projects using a combination of direct site visits and innovative remote monitoring systems. Our work in this area has been recognized internationally.
