Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Line 6: Explanation of Classes of Members or Shareholder

A.Membership in the Cal Pac shall be limited to four-year colleges and universities as defined by the NAIA.B.Institutions shall be active or associate members of the NAIA.C.Institutions shall have similar academic standards and be geographically located in the western states. (8/12)D.Institutions shall have similar sports philosophy and agreement with Cal Pac purposes and Code of Conduct.E.Standing member institutions have voting privileges on the Executive Committee.F.Membership in the Cal Pac shall not prohibit institutional membership in any other National or International multi-sport organization. Participation in other conferences is permitted for sports not sponsored by the Cal Pac Conference.G.Standing members shall sponsor and compete in at least 50 percent of the conference-sponsored sports, including one in each season (Fall, Winter, Spring). A member may comply with this criterion by substituting an additional sport in one season if doing so helps the conference attain or maintain direct qualification to NAIA national championship play.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 7A: How Members or Shareholders Elect Governing Body

The Executive Committee shall consist of the Athletic Director or designee from each standing member institution. A Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) from each institution is welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings.1.The Executive Committee shall function under the ultimate authority of the Presidents of the Cal Pac member institutions.B.Authority for all decisions and actions taken by the conference resides withthe Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall transact the business and administer the affairs of the Conference in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, and Policies and Procedures of the Conference. C.Each standing member of the Cal Pac shall have one vote on the Executive Committee.D.Associate members are expected to attend the Executive Committee meeting, but do not have voting privileges.E.The Executive Committee shall select a Conference Commissioner to carry out duties set forth in the Constitution, Bylaws, and Policies and Procedures.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0A.Membership in the Cal Pac shall be limited to four-year colleges and universities as defined by the NAIA.B.Institutions shall be active or associate members of the NAIA.C.Institutions shall have similar academic standards and be geographically located in the western states. (8/12)D.Institutions shall have similar sports philosophy and agreement with Cal Pac purposes and Code of Conduct.E.Standing member institutions have voting privileges on the Executive Committee.F.Membership in the Cal Pac shall not prohibit institutional membership in any other National or International multi-sport organization. Participation in other conferences is permitted for sports not sponsored by the Cal Pac Conference.G.Standing members shall sponsor and compete in at least 50 percent of the conference-sponsored sports, including one in each season (Fall, Winter, Spring). A member may comply with this criterion by substituting an additional sport in one season if doing so helps the conference attain or maintain direct qualification to NAIA national championship play.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1The Executive Committee shall consist of the Athletic Director or designee from each standing member institution. A Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) from each institution is welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings.1.The Executive Committee shall function under the ultimate authority of the Presidents of the Cal Pac member institutions.B.Authority for all decisions and actions taken by the conference resides withthe Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall transact the business and administer the affairs of the Conference in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, and Policies and Procedures of the Conference. C.Each standing member of the Cal Pac shall have one vote on the Executive Committee.D.Associate members are expected to attend the Executive Committee meeting, but do not have voting privileges.E.The Executive Committee shall select a Conference Commissioner to carry out duties set forth in the Constitution, Bylaws, and Policies and Procedures.
