Activity 2

Continued and expanded educational programming relating to furthering the naples botanical garden's mission, developed additional mission-based educational programs:existing formal and informal educational programming for adults and youth were continued and expanded in the naples botanical garden and the kapnick center for education and research. Developed new mission-based educational programs to better serve the community. Educational programs are offered in the classrooms, auditorium and on-site in the naples botanical garden on a wide range of topics to a broad public audience. Continued education programs including docent training (578 participants), lifelong learning (201 participants), collier greens school garden outreach (54 participants), school field trips (3,267), summer camps (296 participants), avalon elementary global garden (525 participants), second saturdays and the w.o.n.d.e.r. Program in the smith children's garden (1490 participants), classroom outreach, community sustainability initiatives (greenscapes coalition, collier county commercial horticulture team), internship programs (4 internships and 4 in other departments), conservation research collaborations with florida gulf coast university (2 research projects), and educational partnerships with local organizations. New initiatives included teacher trainings for collier county public schools (all ccps elementary science teachers), the budding botanists field trip specialist program, therapeutic horticulture (30 participants) programming in the buehler enabling garden and an orchid restoration conference (65 participants), water resources conference with university of florida.community educational partnerships include collaborations with collier county audubon society, florida nursery, growers and landscape association, florida gulf coast university, university of florida, collier county extension agency, naples chapter of the florida native plant society, florida wildflower foundation, educational concerns hunger organization (echo), rookery bay national estuary research reserve, collier county public libraries, collier county public schools, and lighthouse of collier center for blindness and vision loss.

Activity 3

Developed new and expanded existing public programs and special events to increase public awareness and visitation to the naples botanical garden and increase earned income.
