Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

In october 2013, crf contributed a small amount of funding to the american assn. For laboratory animal science (aalas) in order to provide audio-visual tele-conferencing for a meeting previously scheduled, that took place during the government shut-down. Access to the audio-visual tele-conferencing portion of the meeting enabled hundreds of previously scheduled government attendees to gain information and updates due to the lack of funding. These audio-visual participants otherwise would not have been able to benefit from the meeting that provided important information updates concerning laboratory animal science. Clinical research foundation inc. Continues to support the robley rex vamc institutional review board and veterinary medical unit committees by providing community consultants in order to meet accreditation standards.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Management has concluded that any tax positions that would not meet the more-likely-than-not criterion of fasb asc 740-10 would be immaterial to the financial statements taken as a whole. Accordingly, the accompanying financial statements do not include any provision for uncertain tax positions, and no related interest or penalties have been recorded in the statement of revenue, expenses and other changes in net assest or accrued in the statement of assets and net assets. Federal and state tax returns of the entity are generally open to examination by the relevant taxing authorities for a period of three years from the date the returns are filed.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0PI - RAMIREZ, JULIO, M.D.-(RAMHIV) THIS IS AN ON-GOING PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WITH U. OF L. THE GOAL IS TO IMPROVE THE OUTCOMES AND LIFE EXPECTANCIES OF HIV INFECTED PATIENTS. THIS STUDY HAS SHOWN THAT ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION HAS A SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON THE CD4T CELL COUNT AND DISEASE PROGRESSION. OUR RESEARCHERS DISCUSS THIS WITH THE VETERANS WHO CONSUME ALCOHOL AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO STOP OR DECREASE THE AMOUNT THEY CONSUME. HIV RELATED IMMUNE-SUPPRESSION SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES THE RISK FOR ACQUIRING OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS AND MALIGNANCIES AND ARE A MAJOR SOURCE OF MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY IN PATIENTS WITH HIV DISEASE. PARTICIPANTS IN THIS PROJECT ARE MONITORED REGULARLY TO ENSURE THEY ARE RECEIVING THE APPROPRIATE THERAPY FOR THEIR HIV INFECTION. THE PROJECT IS SUPPORTED BY DONATIONS AND THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE, (U OF L).

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0IN OCTOBER 2013, CRF CONTRIBUTED A SMALL AMOUNT OF FUNDING TO THE AMERICAN ASSN.
