The mission of new vista of the bluegrass, inc. (new vista) is to assist individuals and families in the enhancement of their emotional, mental and physical well-being by providing mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual and developmental disability services. We recognize our responsibility to serve those who have limited options for meeting their needs, we plan with our communities, develop innovative programs to respond rapidly to needs and, as appropriate, help influence community priorities to ensure that individual and community service gaps are addressed.
To assist individuals and families in the enhancement of their emotional, mental and physical well-being by providing mental health, substance abuse and intellectual and developmental disability services.

PARTNERS FOR CHANGE OUTCOME MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (PCOMS) CONTINUES TO BE A TREATMENT APPROACH USED IN ALL OUTPATIENT SERVICES. STAFF DEVELOPMENT HAS FOCUSED ON ENHANCEMENT OF PCOMS, DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY, MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING, PERSON CENTERED PLANNING, COLLABORATIVE DOCUMENTATION, AND ILLNESS MANAGEMENT AND RECOVERY ALL OF WHICH ARE EVIDENCE BASED APPROACHES. COMPREHENSIVE TRAININGS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED TO SUPPORT EACH OF THESE INITIATIVES. A NEW ORIENTATION TRAINING PROGRAM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED WITH THE GOAL OF ENHANCING STAFF COMPETENCIES IN ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR JOB INCLUDING DELIVERY OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICES.MENTAL HEALTH (CHILDREN):THIS YEAR BLUEGRASS CHILDREN'S SERVICES CONTINUED TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO TRADITIONAL FORMS OF SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE REGION IN FORM OF MEDICALLY NECESSARY OUTPATIENT, CASE MANAGEMENT AND PRESCRIBER SERVICES AS HAS HISTORICALLY BEEN THE CASE. BLUEGRASS HAS ALSO CONTINUED SCHOOL-BASED SERVICES IN MANY OF OUR COUNTIES. IN ADDITION, THROUGH MOBILE CRISIS SERVICES, BLUEGRASS HAS BEEN ABLE TO RESPOND PROMPTLY TO THE EMERGENT AND CRISIS NEEDS OF CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, AND FAMILIES. CHILDREN AND FAMILIES HAVE UTILIZED THIS SERVICE AS BOTH A STEP-DOWN TRANSITION FROM HOSPITALIZATION OR PLACEMENT SERVICES AS WELL AS A STEP UP IN SERVICES IF NEEDING A MORE INTENSIVE LEVEL OF CARE, IN EFFORTS TO PREVENT HOSPITALIZATION. BLUEGRASS IS ALSO PROVIDING SERVICES THROUGH START (SOBRIETY TREATMENT AND RECOVERY TEAMS), A GRANT FUNDED PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES (DCBS). THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, BLUEGRASS.ORG PROVIDES A SERVICE COORDINATOR WHO ASSESSES FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO DCBS AND HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY SUBSTANCE MISUSE, DETERMINES SERVICES NEEDED AND MAKES REFERRALS TO THOSE SERVICES. START, FAYETTE COUNTY, OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED IN FEBRUARY 2017 AND HAS TAKEN 15 FAMILY CASES.BLUEGRASS HAS CONTINUED TO EXPAND THE HIGH FIDELITY WRAPAROUND. EFFORTS ARE ONGOING TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND BLUEGRASS STAFF ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAM. BLUEGRASS HAS CONTINUED TO WORK WITH DCBS ON THE SAFESPACE INITIATIVE. BLUEGRASS COMPLETED A PILOT IN SEVERAL COUNTIES AND IS NOW ACCEPTING REFERRALS FROM BOTH THE SOUTHERN BLUEGRASS AND SALT RIVER TRAIL DCBS REGIONS. BLUEGRASS HAS CONTINUED TO WORK TOWARD DEVELOPING MORE PROGRAMMING THROUGH COMMUNITY SUPPORT ASSOCIATES AND PEER SUPPORT SPECIALISTS. THESE ARE PROVIDER TYPES WHO SERVE AS ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN NEED OF SPECIFIC SKILL ATTAINMENT OR SUPPORT IN ADDITION TO CLINICAL SERVICES. THE EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST WORKED TIRELESSLY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO PROVIDE TRAINING, CONSULTATION, AND TREATMENT TO CHILDREN BIRTH-5. BLUEGRASS ALSO CONTINUED INVOLVEMENT IN GROUPS FOCUSING ON EXPANSION OF SERVICES FOR TRANSITION AGED YOUTH AND FAMILIES. IN ADDITION, BLUEGRASS WAS RECENTLY PROVIDED FUNDING TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING FIRST EPISODE PSYCHOSIS PROGRAMMING AND THE IHOPE PROGRAM COORDINATOR WILL WORK TO DEVELOP AND EXPAND THOSE SERVICES IN FY18. BLUEGRASS HAS CONTINUED ITS EFFORTS TO BE MORE TRAUMA INFORMED. BLUEGRASS CONTINUES TO LOOK FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW AND STRENGTHEN SERVICES FOR THE CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITIES. |
