Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The purpose of the wayside christian mission is to respond to human need of the poor and homeless by (1) providing temporary housing/shelter, food, clothing, nurturing, spiritual and social enrichment, encouragement, and referrals (2) and by providing the support services and skills that would permit and encourage a return to a state of self-sufficiency so that human dignity can be restored and the love of god can be shared.

To provide food, shelter and clothing to homeless men, women and children, and to provide the support services necessary to return them to a state of self-sufficiency.

The ceo presents all potential conflicts of interest annually at the board of director's meeting. If the board votes that a proposed relationship would be a conflict of interest the relationship is not pursued.

As part of the annual budget process, the personnel committee of the board of directors reviews salaries of all personnel, including all officers and key employees. The compensation for employees is recommended by the president/ceo and approved by the personnel committee. The compensation for the president/ceo and chief operating officer is recommended by the personnel committee. In these reviews, employee performance, local economic conditions, and compensation of other not-for-profit entities in the region are all considered. Once the recommended salaries are approved by the personnel committee, the final budget is presented to the board of directors for a vote.

The organization's endowment funds are used to support programs that further the organization's exempt purpose.

PART X, LINE 2:

The mission, properties, and wcm are exempt from income taxes under the provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code ("irc"). Although the organization is exempt from income taxes, any income generated from activities unrelated to the organization's exempt purpose is subject to tax under irc section 511. The organization generated no unrelated business income for the years ended september 30, 2017 and 2016. The organization recognizes uncertain income tax positions using the "more-likely-than-not" approach as defined in the asc. No liability for uncertain tax positions has been recorded in the accompanying financial statements.
