Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The purpose of the wayside christian mission is to respond to human need of the poor and homeless by (1) providing temporary housing/shelter, food, clothing, nurturing, spiritual and social enrichment, encouragement, and referrals (2) and by providing the support services and skills that would permit and encourage a return to a state of self-sufficiency so that human dignity can be restored and the love of god can be shared.

Wayside christian mission continues to provide a continuum of care for louisville's homeless, starting with outreach through our good samaritan patrol, the low barrier shelter (100 persons), the emergency shelters for men, women and families, programs for homeless veterans, the sober living program for persons experiencing drug addiction and/or alcoholism, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing for mentally and/or physically disabled homeless persons, and affordable housing units.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Timothy moseley and nina moseley have a family relationship.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The president-ceo and the coo circulates the 990 to all board members via email prior to it being filed, and asks the board members to contact them with any questions or comments.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The ceo presents all potential conflicts of interest annually at the board of director's meeting. If the board votes that a proposed relationship would be a conflict of interest the relationship is not pursued.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Management convenes a personnel committee when considering a compensation increase for the ceo. The committee considers current compensation of other similarly situated ceo's of non-profit organizations in the area, taking into account number of years of experience and performance. Any recommended increase in compensation is then presented to the budget committee. Due to the family relationship of the ceo and coo, any compensation increase for the coo follows the above procedure as well. For all other employees, compensation is determined by the ceo after the employee's performance evaluation and self-evalluation is complete.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Documents are available on the organization's website, guidestar, and upon request in writing.
