“Lighthouse ministries, inc. Consists of life learning campus for the poor, homeless, and at risk in west central florida communities (lakeland, winter haven/auburndale, plant city, brandon, ybor city/tampa). Our purpose is to offer dignity and a better quality of life through the power of the gospel for those we serve. We offer opportunities with two objectives: rescue and recovery. Rescue includes overnight shelter, hope centers, compassion connections, and homeless intervention. Lighthouse ministries, inc.'s new community homeless intervention program provides dedicated case managers, resources and financial aid to prevent families and individuals from being homeless. It allows lighthouse ministries to carry out our mission and vision while assisting individuals or families from being plagued by homelessness at a much lower cost than those requiring long-term care. Rescue services provided during 2019 through programs included: gospel rescue mission, which served 513 individuals non-duplicate, provided 37,132 meals, and provided 18,778 nights of lodging; community homeless intervention, which served 67 clients and housed 17 clients; and food box distribution, which served 3,551 families and 5,462 individuals and provided 128,286 meals. During 2019, lighthouse ministries, inc. Launched a new campaign to engage the community through a film production called "finding hope". It became an award-winning film locally and continues to offer support for our program. It was paid in full by our board member and a givewell community foundation empower polk grant.”
“Recovery includes: residential recovery programs, education to provide next steps including ged or high school diploma, college, vocational, certification, and employment placement opportunities beginning with our employment internship phase. Recovery includes wrap around services including preschool, lighthouse kid's club, employment, transportation, pastoral counseling, licensed mental health counseling, bible training, and personal budgeting and savings instruction for independent living. Recovery services provided during 2019 included: residential program, which serviced 91 men, 33 women, 26 children and provided 14,929 days of care; adult education and employment, which had 62 enrolled, 15 graduates, 14 working toward ged or higher education, 5 job of life graduates, and 24 interns employed; provided 209,845 meals; and had 312 ministry-wide faith decisions. In 2019, we added the jobs for life program to prepare men and women for employement. Lighthouse also became a 2019 certified excellent citygate network member, began the lighthouse beacon initiative in communities to serve neighborhoods, and expanded thrift operations and products to offer more services and products to the community. Thrift operations saw an increase from servicing 139 customers per day to servicing 233 per day.”

RESCUE INCLUDES OVERNIGHT SHELTER, HOPE CENTERS, COMPASSION CONNECTIONS, AND HOMELESS INTERVENTION. LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRIES, INC.'S NEW COMMUNITY HOMELESS INTERVENTION PROGRAM PROVIDES DEDICATED CASE MANAGERS, RESOURCES AND FINANCIAL AID TO PREVENT FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS FROM BEING HOMELESS. IT ALLOWS LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRIES TO CARRY OUT OUR MISSION AND VISION WHILE ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS OR FAMILIES FROM BEING PLAGUED BY HOMELESSNESS AT A MUCH LOWER COST THAN THOSE REQUIRING LONG-TERM CARE. RESCUE SERVICES PROVIDED DURING 2019 THROUGH PROGRAMS INCLUDED: GOSPEL RESCUE MISSION, WHICH SERVED 513 INDIVIDUALS NON-DUPLICATE, PROVIDED 37,132 MEALS, AND PROVIDED 18,778 NIGHTS OF LODGING; COMMUNITY HOMELESS INTERVENTION, WHICH SERVED 67 CLIENTS AND HOUSED 17 CLIENTS; AND FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTION, WHICH SERVED 3,551 FAMILIES AND 5,462 INDIVIDUALS AND PROVIDED 128,286 MEALS. DURING 2019, LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRIES, INC. LAUNCHED A NEW CAMPAIGN TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH A FILM PRODUCTION CALLED "FINDING HOPE". IT BECAME AN AWARD-WINNING FILM LOCALLY AND CONTINUES TO OFFER SUPPORT FOR OUR PROGRAM. IT WAS PAID IN FULL BY OUR BOARD MEMBER AND A GIVEWELL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION EMPOWER POLK GRANT. |

RECOVERY SERVICES PROVIDED DURING 2019 INCLUDED: RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM, WHICH SERVICED 91 MEN, 33 WOMEN, 26 CHILDREN AND PROVIDED 14,929 DAYS OF CARE; ADULT EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT, WHICH HAD 62 ENROLLED, 15 GRADUATES, 14 WORKING TOWARD GED OR HIGHER EDUCATION, 5 JOB OF LIFE GRADUATES, AND 24 INTERNS EMPLOYED; PROVIDED 209,845 MEALS; AND HAD 312 MINISTRY-WIDE FAITH DECISIONS. IN 2019, WE ADDED THE JOBS FOR LIFE PROGRAM TO PREPARE MEN AND WOMEN FOR EMPLOYEMENT. LIGHTHOUSE ALSO BECAME A 2019 CERTIFIED EXCELLENT CITYGATE NETWORK MEMBER, BEGAN THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON INITIATIVE IN COMMUNITIES TO SERVE NEIGHBORHOODS, AND EXPANDED THRIFT OPERATIONS AND PRODUCTS TO OFFER MORE SERVICES AND PRODUCTS TO THE COMMUNITY. THRIFT OPERATIONS SAW AN INCREASE FROM SERVICING 139 CUSTOMERS PER DAY TO SERVICING 233 PER DAY. |
