Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

GENERAL STATEMENT OF COVID-19 IMPACT:

Mtc's on-site programs were suspended in march, 2020. Mtc repurposed staff to meet the dramatically increased needs of community living clients, many medically frail seniors, sheltering in place during quarantine. There were no layoffs. Mtc's staff quickly adapted to deliver its empowered learning educational and life-skills programs on virtual platforms such as google classroom, zoom and youtube, to help clients maintain social interactions that reduce isolation and continue training required for independent living. With emergency coronavirus response funding, when needed, mtc provided internet service, laptops and large-screen tvs in residences for community living clients throughout the county. We lent laptops to students who would otherwise not have had a way to maintain their progress towards earning globally recognized certificates in technology. Mtc purchased sanitizing equipment, ppo and knocked down walls to make social distancing possible in classrooms. Since the pandemic began, our technology instructors interface with the students' computers, and now the students have learned and understood more about the internal workings of hardware and networks than they would have in more traditional classrooms settings. With the expansion of a remote workforce, neurodiverse individuals whose behavioral or social issues make working in the confines of a typical office environment challenging, may find more opportunities for employment. Remote work makes work more accessible for one of the most under-served groups of people in america, and by so doing, may go a long way in helping people with disabilities find employment. After careful preparation and implementation of covid-19 safety measures required by the agency for persons with disabilities, the cdc and osha, mtc welcomed back a small cohort of students in august 2020 to both our locations in tampa and sabal park, brandon.

This process has not changed from the prior year.
