Week: monday through friday from decatur first united methodist church, senior connections' chamblee building and the bruce street/east dekalb senior center in lithonia; and on saturdays from chamblee. In fiscal year 2017, all lithonia meal routes have been transferred to decatur first united methodist church. -senior connections employs registered dietitians to meet the requirements of menu planning and to promote wellness programs to seniors including fall prevention, health fairs, chronic disease self management programs and medical nutrition therapy classes

With dekalb and fulton counties to assist seniors transitioning from inpatient to home care. -senior connections employs 5 registered nurses in in-home care to provide initial assessments, as well as bi-monthly supervisory visits for all in- home clients.

Neighborhood senior centers -399 seniors enjoyed nutritious meals, health and wellness classes and exercise programs at four dekalb county neighborhood senior centers (north, south, dekalb-atlanta and bruce st./lithonia). Senior connections' registered dietitians have menu planning sessions each quarter with center seniors and receive constant feedback on daily menus. -in advocacy efforts, senior connections invited local elected officials to speak to seniors at the center and to answer questions. Additionally, seniors participated in the "be there 4 seniors" rally on the capitol steps january 28, 2016. Representatives from all dekalb county neighborhood senior centers participated. Center members also attended the senior week at the capitol in late february. -the south dekalb senior center opened on october 12, 2016 after an extended build period. The north dekalb center is still under construction. Discussions have begun regarding the status/update/new build for the bruce street/lithonia center. Development -in fy2016, the development department raised 1,523,228 through grants, direct mail, board and staff campaigns, special events, and corporate sponsorships. This represents a 42% increase over fy2015, however this is partially due to a timing issue in receipt of the home depot foundation home repair grant and a community development block grant. -significant grantors (besides several anonymous donors) include the home depot foundation, kaiser permanente, community foundation of greater atlanta, john and polly sparks foundation, bank of america charitable trust, the scott hudgens family foundation, the ida alice ryan charitable trust, nationwide insurance foundation, atlanta foundation, john and mary franklin foundation and georgia-pacific inc. -the board of directors participated 100% in their donor campaign to senior connections. -the senior prom, a signature fundraising event, raised 138,219 for senior programming and general operating expenses. Major sponsors included fidelity bank, choate construction, cox automotive, georgia natural gas, ups, publix supermarket charities, senior life services, georgia power, kaiser permanente, silverman construction program management, brooks, mcginnis & company, llc, emory alliance credit union and young harris college. -senior connections' second fundraiser, the 2015 swing fore seniors charity golf tournament took place on december 14, 2016 (after rescheduling twice due to weather) and raised 24,032 for senior programs. Sponsors included gaynes financial (presenting), brooks mcginnis, carr riggs ingram, fidelity bank, fischer funeral care, integrated financial services, georgia power, manheim, publix supermarket charities and smith & howard. Volunteers -a volunteer corps of 468 individuals donated more than 30,596 individual hours of their time during fy2016 on behalf of older adults in metro atlanta -78 corporate, church and social group volunteer partners (1,400 additional volunteers) donated time in fy2016, including cox automotive, the medici project (college students from around the country), fidelity bank, dekalb county clerk of superior court, agl resources, emory university, ups, lexis nexus, chamblee first united methodist church, the worship center, pebbletossers, aon hewitt, frazier center, hands for hire, just to name a few. -senior connections' core of volunteers participated in meal preparation; delivery of meals; wheelchair ramp builds; and special fundraising and holiday events, along with helping out at senior centers. Marketing -3 direct mail campaigns were completed in fy2016 through a meals on wheels cooperative, with a total of 96,876 pieces mailed to existing and potential new donors in november, february and april. Mail response rates were in the 6% for existing donors and 1.6% for newly acquired donor. After expenses, a net of 69,875 was achieved. -an additional in-house mailing (circle of friends) to existing donors in august generated an additional 17,292 i

The organization qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Gaap requires management to evaluate positions taken by the organization and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the organization has taken a position that would not be sustained upon examination by a tax authority. The organization believes that there were no uncertain positions taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in these financial statements. Accordingly, no provision or benefit for income taxes has been recorded in the accompanying financial statements. In addition, the organization had no significant unrelated business taxable income during the years ended june 30, 2016 and 2015. The organization's income tax returns are subject to examination by the appropriate regulatory authorities for all open years, which include the last three years filed.
