Macon program for progress leads and collaborates to improve quality of life for individuals, children, and families.

To provide education and care for pre-school children, care for older adults and employment training for low-income individuals and to improve living conditions and alleviate poverty in macon county, north carolina.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 1A

The membership of the executive committee is comprised of the officers of the organization plus six duly elected members of the board of directors. All members are nominated by the nominating committee and approved by the full board at the june meeting. The purpose of the executive committee is to transact board business between meetings of the full board. This committee interprets the policies and decisions of the board of directors as to their immediate application of the program's functions, serves as the advisory committee to the executive director, and performs other duties as delegated to it by the board. Decisions of the executive committee are subject to review and amendment by the board of directors at its next regular meeting. The quorum requirements for the committee must be at least 50% of the total membership of the committee less excused absences.

Smart start - improves the quality of child care, makes child care more affordable and accessible, provides access to health services and offers family support. Child and adult food - provides nutritional needs within headstart, early headstart, smartstart and adult programs. Child food - all head start children 0 to 5 years old are eligible for the cacfp food program. The program provides nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. Head start children receive breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack each day of attendance.
