Starfish inc is a college access and readiness program serving low-income high school students through one-on-one mentoring and by providing timely information, guidance and support. The organization makes a difference in the educational opportunities of promising, economically disadvantaged students. The organization's intervention strategy involves a personalized, long-term commitment to facilitate access to educational opportunities, provide leadership training and strengthen the support networks vital to student success. At its heart, the organization is a mentoring program, matching academically promising low-income students with individual adult mentors who make two-year commitments to serve as "college coaches" to keep students on track toward graduation from high school and prepare for success in college and careers.
