“Electronic copies of audit documents and 990s are provided to the members of the Board of Directors. The Finance Committee reviews the documents and gives their recommendation for approval to the Board. Then the Board votes on approval at the next Board Meeting. Approval can be given by email, phone, or in person by Board Members.”

“In regards to establishing the compensation of the Executive Director when hired in 2014, the search committee did a comparative sampling of other ED salaries in the San Francisco Bay Area for similarly sized nonprofits. The search committee was comprised of FSD Board members and did not include any independent persons. When negotiating with the current ED, we used the results of the comparative sampling as well as our current and future budgets for the organization.”

Efforts are made to secure compensation data from industry sources in order to determine competitiveness and appropriateness of salaries and all related benefits. All decisions are then documented in personnel files.”
