Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Board member brian lants is the brother-in-law of the president of ppf, bradford l. Phillips.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The 2022 990 is reviewed first by the co & fo and then sent to all board members. Board members submitted any questions and/or comments to the co & fo. All board members have had sufficient time to review it before the 990 is filed with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Hagazi kebede, co & fo, ensures that the organization and its employees are in compliance with the conflict of interest policy. During board meetings, issues of conflict of interest are voted on by non-affected members of the board and affected members are excluded from any board decisions impacting their compensation or the related conflict of interest.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The compensation of the ceo is assessed by the ppf compensation committee, utilizing a comparability compensation study conducted by an independent third party. The 2022 recommendation was reviewed, and approved, by the governing board. The ceo determines the compensation for all other employees. Year end bonuses may be awarded each year and determined by the employee's supervisor, which is the board of directors in the case of the ceo.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The audited financial statements, whistleblower policy, donor privacy policy, conflict of interest policy, and form 990 are posted on ppf's website: www.persecutionproject.org.

IRS990/Desc0TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS (T&L):WORKING IN THE WAR-TORN NUBA MOUNTAINS REQUIRES THE USE OF A VARIETY OF LOGISTICAL TOOLS TO DELIVER SUPPLIES SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY FOR OUR VARIOUS PROGRAM ACTIVITIES. DURING THE RAINY SEASON, "ROADS" IN THE NUBA MOUNTAINS BECOME IMPASSABLE BY EVEN THE HEAVIEST OF TRUCKS, SO QUAD BIKES AND MOTORBIKES ARE OFTEN EMPLOYED TO DELIVER MEDICINES AND OTHER EMERGENCY RELIEF SUPPLIES TO REMOTE CLINICS AND VILLAGES.IN AREAS WHERE INSECURITY EXISTS, THE SAFEST AVAILABLE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION IS FLIGHTS. THE USE OF CARGO PLANES MINIMIZES THE RISK OF INJURY TO OUR DRIVERS AND WORKERS BY AVOIDING ROADS THAT ARE PATROLLED BY BANDITS OR SOLDIERS. IN 2022, PPF CONDUCTED 35 EMERGENCY RELIEF FLIGHTS FACILITATING THE DELIVERY OF NEARLY 243 METRIC TONS OF RELIEF TO THE NUBA MOUNTAINS. THE FLIGHTS BROUGHT IN MEDICINES AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES, BOREHOLE SPARE PARTS, HOSPITAL BUILDING MATERIALS, VEHICLE SPARE PARTS, HYGIENE KITS, FUEL, RELIEF PACKS, BP-5 EMERGENCY FOOD, TARPS, BLANKETS, BIBLES, NEW TESTAMENTS, AUDIO BIBLES, BIBLE RADIOS, EVANGELISM BACKPACK PROJECTORS, A RUBB HALL STORAGE TENT, AND A JOHN DEERE TRACTOR WITH ACCESSORIES.UNIMOG TRANSPORT TRUCKS CONTINUE TO BE USED TO FACILITATE DISTRIBUTONS OF VITAL RELIEF SUPPLIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, EVEN DURING THE RAINY SEASON. WITH ACCESS TO THE NUBA REGION YEAR-ROUND, PPF NOW HAS THE ABILITY TO BETTER COORDINATE OUTREACH ACTIVITIES IN A TIMELY FASHION AND WHEN THE NUBA PEOPLE NEED IT MOST.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0ADVOCACY AND GENERAL:PPF IS A COMMUNITY DEDICATED TO EXPOSING INSTANCES OF CHRISTIAN PERSECUITON (EPHESIANS 5:11), ENGAGING FELLOW BELIEVERS TO INTERCEDE ON BEHALF OF THE PERSECUTED (ISAIAH 58:6-12), AND BRINGING ENCOURAGEMENT, CONSOLATION, AND HOPE TO OUR PERSECUTED BRETHREN (2 CORINTHIANS 1). WE ENCOURAGE OUR DONORS TO INTERCEDE ON BEHALF OF THE PERSECUTED AND POOR AND INSPIRE THEM TO "GET ACTIVE" BY JOINING PPF IN AN AREA WHERE IT SERVES THE PEOPLE OF SUDAN. OUR SUPPORTERS PARTNER WITH US BY "STARTING WHERE THEY ARE, USING WHAT THEY HAVE, AND DOING WHAT THEY CAN." WHETHER ORGANIZING "WALKS FOR WATER", ESTABLISHING PRAYER GROUPS, OR PRESENTING PPF'S WORK BEFORE CIVIC GROUPS AND CHURCH CONGREGATIONS, MANY OF OUR SUPPORTERS BECOME ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN ADVOCATING FOR THE NEEDS OF THE SUDANESE PEOPLE.WITHOUT OUR MANY DONORS, THESE OUTREACHES TO THE NUBA PEOPLE COULD NOT CONTINUE. PPF THANKS OUR MANY PARTNERS FOR THEIR UNTIRING EFFORTS TO SUPPORT THE PERSECUTED PEOPLE OF SUDAN. YOU DO THIS THROUGH YOUR PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL GIFTS, BUT YOU ALSO DO THIS BY BEING AN ADVOCATE FOR THE SUDANESE PEOPLE. MANY OF OUR SUPPORTERS HAVE INVITED A PPF SPEAKER TO THEIR CHURCH OR CIVIC ORGANIZATION. OTHERS HAVE HOSTED TABLES FULL OF PPF LITERATURE. MANY HAVE FORWARDED PPF EMAIL UPDATES TO THEIR FRIENDS OR POSTED THEM TO THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. SOME HAVE PROMOTED OUR CROWDFUNDING PLATFORM TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE SITUATION IN THE NUBA MOUNTAINS. HOWEVER YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO GET ACTIVE ON BEHALF OF THE PERSECUTED, PPF THANKS YOU FOR DOING SO.IF YOU'D LIKE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HOW YOU CAN USE YOUR COMMUNITY TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITY, PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE AT (888)201-5245.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0DISCIPLESHIP & EVANGELISM:AT PPF, WE BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH; AND IN JESUS CHRIST, HIS ONLY SON, OUR LORD, WHO WAS CONCEIVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY, SUFFERED UNDER PONTIUS PILATE, WAS CRUCIFIED, DIED, AND WAS BURIED. HE DESCENDED INTO HELL; THE THIRD DAY HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD. HE ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN, AND IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY; FROM THENCE HE SHALL COME TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD. WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS, THE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY, AND LIFE EVERLASTING.WE BELIEVE THAT MANKIND HAS BEEN SEPARATED FROM GOD BY SIN, AND OUR ONLY HOPE OF SALVATION COMES FROM THE ATONING SACRIFICE OF GOD'S SON, JESUS CHRIST, WHO SAID, "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME." (JOHN 14:6) "FOR GOD DID NOT SEND HIS SON INTO THE WORLD TO CONDEMN THE WORLD, BUT THAT THE WORLD THROUGH HIM MIGHT BE SAVED." (JOHN 3:17) "FOR WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED." (ROMANS 10:13)THE FOUNDATION OF ALL PPF MINISTRIES OF ACTIVE COMPASSION IS THE WORK OF THE GREAT COMMISSION. BY SERVING AS A RESOURCE AND FELLOWSHIPPING WITH OUR PERSECUTED FAMILY, THE GOSPEL IS ADVANCED. THE PRIMARY IMPACT OF DISCIPLESHIP AND EVANGELISM MINISTRY IN THE NUBA IS ACHIEVED BY PROVIDING SCRIPTURES, SCRIPTURE RESOURCES, CONFERENCES AND TRAINING EVENTS. PPF HAS IDENTIFIED SEVERAL AREAS WHERE HELP IS NEEDED AND EFFECTIVE.DISTRIBUTION OF BIBLES, AUDIO BIBLES, DIGITAL LIBRARIES AND PROJECTORS PROVIDE NECESSARY TOOLS TO SUPPORT DISCIPLESHIP AND EVANGELISTIC MINISTRY. PPF DISTRIBUTES PRINTED BIBLES IN SIX LANGUAGES, INCLUDING ARABIC, ENGLISH, OTURO, KRONGO, NIYERE (KWALIB) AND MORO. 17,650 PRINTED BIBLES WERE DISTRIBUTED, AS WERE 6,500 AUDIO BIBLES, WHICH ARE IN ENGLISH AND SUDANESE ARABIC.PASTORAL CONFERENCES AND WORKSHPS PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PREACHING, TRAINING, FELLOWSHIP, PRAYER AND PLANNING OF OTHER MINISTRY. IN 2022, 137 PASTORS, EVANGELISTS AND CHURCH LEADERS RECEIVED TRAUMA HEALING TRAINING TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES.GOSPEL RADIOS--IN 2022, PPF DISTRIBUTED 2,700 BIBLE RADIOS TO NUBA FAMILIES. THESE RADIOS ARE FITTED WITH A MICRO SD SLOT, AND MICRO SD CARDS PRE-LOADED WITH ARABIC AND ENGLISH BIBLES WERE HANDED OUT WITH THE RADIOS.EVANGELISM BACKPACKS--EIGHT EVANGELISM BACKPACKS WERE GIVEN TO NUBA PASTORS FOR REMOTE GOSPEL OUTREACH. EACH 17.5-POUND BACKPACK PROVIDED A PASTOR WITH A PROJECTOR, SPEAKERS, SOLAR PANELS AND EVANGELISTIC VIDEO CONTENT (LIKE THE JESUS FILM).JEBEL LOPIT TRAINING CENTER:BUILDING COMMUNITY AND SUPPORTING GREAT COMMISSION WORK AT THE JEBEL LOPIT TRAINING CENTER (JLTC) LOHUTUK, IMATONG STATE, RSS.SINCE 2004 IN THE MOUNTAINS OF LOPIT, PPF HAS SERVED ALONGSIDE THE AFICA INLAND CHURCH (AIC) TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT GOSPEL-RELATED MINISTRY. OUR INVESTMENT IN LOHUTUK AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS HAS INCLUDED RELIEF AND MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS, SPONSORSHIP OF PASTOR TRAINING, AND A VARIETY OF DISCIPLESHIP PROJECTS.THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE JEBEL LOPIT TRAINING CENTER HAS STRENGTHENED PPF'S RELATIONSHIP TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND BECOME A STRATEGIC PLATFORM FOR MINISTRY IN THE REGION. ACTIVITIES AT THE JLTC HAVE RANGED FROM HOSTING TRAUMA HEALING WORKSHOPS, ROAD AND AIRSTRIP MAINTENANCE, FACILITATING PEACE AND RECONCILIATION CONFERENCES BETWEEN LOCAL VILLAGES, DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING PROGRAMS, HOSTING OF PARTNER OUTREACHES AND BIBLE STUDIES, PREACHING, MINISTRY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE, PROVIDING WELDING SERVICES FOR LOCAL GRINDING MILLS, AND THE TRAINING AND SENDING OF LOCAL EVANGELISTIC TEAMS INTO REMOTE AREAS FOR "BACKPACK EVANGELISM".SAFE WATER WELLS--NUBA BOREHOLD REPAIRSDUE TO THE CONFLICT IN THE NUBA AREA, NGO'S IN THE REGION WERE EXPELLED IN 2011.
