To promote the biotechnology and biomedical industry in virginia and to expand the knowledge and expertise of virginia's businesses concerning biotech/biomed commercialization, to enhance public awareness and understanding of the science and the industry.

The virginia biotechnology association (virginia bio) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit membership organization that was founded in 1992. The association represents the interest of the life science community in the commonwealth of virginia.
