Form 990, Part III, Line 1, Description of Organization Mission:

USTA Mid-Atlantic promotes tennis and its physical, social, and emotional health benefits. We envision a community where tennis is accessible and available for all people to play. We operate tennis leagues, tournaments, and other programs and events for nearly 28,000 adult and youth members and we support a strong tennis ecosystem for the millions of people that play the sport in the region. We support community tennis providers, facilities, teachers and coaches that directly deliver the sport by offering them program knowledge, curriculum, equipment, technical support and grant funding so that more people can gain access to tennis and the lifelong benefits of the game. Our vision is tennis in every community because through tennis we create healthier, happier and more connected communities.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A, Tennis Programs & Service Initiatives:

USTA League Program & Adult Social Program: Nearly 20,000 people play USTA Mid-Atlantic Adult League Tennis each year. These leagues are offered for a wide range of ages and ability levels in a fun, social and competitive environment. Many of the leagues advance to Regional, Sectional and in some cases National Championships. USTA Mid-Atlantic also offers recreational and social tennis opportunities for adults that provide a platform for networking, socializing, learning (or getting a refresher on) the game, physical activity and fun. Both programs support the creation of a special community of tennis players and enthusiasts of all ages, abilities and backgrounds that are united through a shared passion for tennis. The programs foster social connections and physical activity while fulfilling social and emotional needs that infuse vibrancy in people for a lifetime. Youth Programs: USTA Mid-Atlantic aims to introduce tennis to all children and youth in the region in a way that aids healthy growth and development, and provides avenues to physical activity, educational achievement, character building, social-emotional wellbeing and a strong foundation for lifelong play. In the Mid-Atlantic, we provide physical education teachers turnkey tennis lesson plans and equipment for their school through the USTA's Net Generation suite of tools and resources, thus reaching all children with tennis in an easy to access way and removing barriers to play. USTA Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is a fun, recreational tennis league for ages 8 to 18 and all skill levels - beginners to tournament level juniors. The USTA Junior Circuit helps all ages and experience levels gain match play experience in a tournament setting with a focus on individual results. This experience develops skills through level-based play and demonstration of good sportsmanship. Tournaments: USTA Mid-Atlantic works to ensure there is local tennis competition for youth and adults of all abilities. There's local competition at all levels: entry-level, intermediate and advanced. As players advance, there is an opportunity to compete at national-level tournaments. USTA Tournaments are offered in a variety of formats, including individual, team, entry-level, non-elimination and elimination. A wide variety helps players gain experience and compete at a level they are comfortable. Community Tennis and Diversity & Inclusion: USTA Mid-Atlantic strives to grow tennis at every level with a goal of making the game accessible and inclusive to everyone. We support a wide range of tennis programs designed to introduce tennis to all people and help them learn and play the game. USTA Mid-Atlantic directly supports this through relationship building with our network of National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapters, Community Tennis Associations, Parks & Recreation departments and other community-based tennis opportunities and events. We provide technical support, guidance, curriculum, resources and more to community providers to support their efforts to engage people in every and all communities with tennis and grow the sport. We are also cultivating a robust tennis provider and event network for wheelchair and adaptive tennis to increase opportunities for people with and without disabilities to play and gain benefits from tennis. Outreach Programs of Impact: Tennis is growing both as a sport and community-building activity and USTA Mid-Atlantic is leading the way with support for the player and tennis provider ecosystem so all people can grow physically, emotionally and socially through tennis. Our vision is for tennis to be an integral component of every community. We are strategically focused on removing barriers that prevent entry and access to the sport and the outreach programs we've developed and implemented with the support of generous donations and grants allows us to make a difference. The Junior Player Scholarship Program defrays costs associated with learning, training, and competin
