“Personal care services, doing business as novant health uva health system caton merchant house ("caton") is an integral part of the novant health uva health system ("nhuvahs"). Nhuvahs was formed in 2016 by novant health and the university of virginia health system, and is a regional nonprofit, integrated healthcare network of physician clinics, outpatient centers and hospitals that services patients and communities in virginia. Caton receives strategic planning, administrative, and other support from novant health, inc., a member of the novant health uva health system. General information located in manassas, virginia, novant health uva health system caton merchant house is a 78-apartment unit, adult assisted living facility with 125 licensed beds. Holding a 3-year licensure by the commonwealth of virginia, novant health uva health system caton merchant house routinely exceeds licensure standards. Caton residents have access to a variety of amenities, including a fitness center, transportation to and from local points of interest, nutritious meals three times daily, housekeeping, onsite linen and laundry service, and educational and social activities. Programs have also been established to provide residents with the opportunity to take part in caring for plants and gardens, caring for birds living at the facility, and establishing traditional visits with young grandchildren. Caton also offers a "respite" program for those who need to stay a short time, five to thirty days. This respite program gives a caregiver a chance to take a break, or allows someone to recuperate after a rehab or hospital stay before they return home. There is also a special program for respite patients who have established care with a hospice partner. Patients have a private furnished apartment, and the family has a private lounge and the opportunity to stay with their loved one. In addition to our quality of services and comprehensive categories of services, we're very proud of our patient financial assistance program. We work with patients to help qualify them for public assistance, establish a reasonable payment plan, or discount their bill. Community outreach community outreach is a critical component to the mission of the novant health uva health system caton merchant house. Caton team members participated in the giving.serving.together campaign, which raises funds for the local community, new facilities and equipment, assistance for people in need of shelter, food, clothing, and other basic needs, resources and more. New technology & services caton merchant house uses a senior-living specific electronic medical record and electronic medication administration record, pointclickcare. I modules enable admissions personnel to track inquiries and relationships to prospective move-ins. Resident activity participation and transportation for appointments outside of the building can also be tracked within the modules. The facility continued to use "touchtown," an in-house tv channel. Announcements, activities, and meals are displayed on the in-house tv channel and digital signs throughout the first floor to keep residents informed of what is happening in their home.
