The organization uses income tax basis of accounting. That basis differs from generally accepted accounting principles primarily because the hospital does not record, as a permanently restricted asset, funds held in trust by others. The hospital also does not record its long-term investments and beneficial interests at fair value as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
