Any company producing or manufacturing fertilizers, fertilizer intermediates, their raw materials or intermediate products containing one or more of the major plant nutirents (nitrogen, phosphate, potash, and sulfur) for agricultural purposes or developing deposits thereof that have all requisite corporate approvals and have commenced development; or any nitrogen, phosphate, potash, and sulfur-related company which is affiliated through 100 percent ownership with such a producing or developing company shall be eligible for membership as an ordinary member. Distributors of fertilizers, fertilizer intermediates, their raw materials or intermediate products containing one or more of the major plant nutrients (nitrogen, phosphate, potash, and sulphur), producers of secondary or micronutrients (all of the foregoing produced or distributed materials are hereinafter referred to as "fertilizer products"), suppliers of equipment, materials, services or technologies intended for use in the fertilizer industry shall be eligible for membership as an associate member so long as their annual turnover exceed us250 million and, in the case of an applicant producing fertilizer products, such applicant's fertilizer products are approved by the association of american plant food control officials (aapfco) or a comparable other national or international regulatory or certifying type organization. Any industry association or institute which (i) affirmatively supports the purposes of the institute as set forth in the institute's certificate of incorporation and (ii) whose activities are consistent with and in furtherance of the purposes of the institute's purposes shall be eligible for membership as an affiliate member. In addition, any agency, authority, board, bureau, commission, department, office, or other governmental body or instrumentality, whether national, regional, state, local, or international, (i) which affirmatively supports the purposes of the institute as set forth in the institute's certificate of incorporation and (ii) whose activities are consistent with and in furtherance of the purposes of the institute's purposes shall be eligible for membership as an affiliate member.
