Dream is a 2015 recipient of the national arts and humanities youth program award from the president's committee on the arts and the humanities, the nation's highest honor for after-school arts and humanities programs. Citydance has secured two key resources to support its dream expansion. First, dream is the first national licensee of california-based nonprofit the wooden floor's award-winning curriculum that integrates dance with comprehensive academic, family and college readiness services. Since 2005, 100 percent of twf participants have graduated from high school on time and have gone on to pursue higher education - nearly three times the national average for their socio-economic peers. Secondly, dream will open the dream center for dance in 2018 as an anchor partner in the redevelopment of the grimke school on dc's historic u street. Over the next three years, dream will incrementally increase the number of students served from 160 to 375 while building its capacity to deliver long-term, continuous, year-round programs, supports and services to dream students and families.”

That same year, to bring our renowned dance training program into the district, citydance opened a dance studio in dc's tenleytown neighborhood, providing classes for children and adults as well as rehearsal space for citydance's resident artists and a summer home for dream students. In 2016, the school & conservatory provided over 200 dance classes per week to 750 students ages 18 months to adult at four locations in the greater dc region.”

“Founded in 2011 as a part of citydance presents, citydance ignite provides selected dance artists with free rehearsal space, marketing support, social media and press support, fundraising support, production support, and artistic advisory support. In 2016, ignite artists included rob priore, sarah ewing and asanga domask. Ignite artists taught master classes for conservatory students and set new works on school & conservatory students to be performed during annual student showings.”
