World's most renowned professional companies including our partner dance theatre of harlem. Students receive opportunities to perform throughout the year from our littlest movers performing in the moscow ballet's nutcracker to our most advanced students performing on many of the metropolitan area's most prestigious venues. All students perform at the end of the year in the world-renowned music center at strathmore concert hall. Professional guest artist project provides youth with unparalleled opportunities to learn from professional dancers and develop a lifelong appreciation for dance. The project exposes students to artists with unique perspectives, choreographic styles, teaching methods, talents, and experiences. Artists challenge students by 1) requiring them to adapt new techniques and choreographic styles; 2) inspiring them and exemplifying dance artists who excel in the field; and 3) giving them vital experience auditioning for roles in guest artist's works, learning repertory quickly and performing the repertory on professional stages. Conservatory graduates have been accepted into many leading dance college and university programs including alvin ailey/fordham, suny purchase, and the juilliard school, and have received offers to companies such as houston ballet ii and ballet west. Accomplishments include: "citydance established partnerships with gallim dance and koresh dance company, both presented through citydance onstage, to offer contemporary summer dance intensives at the citydance school & conservatory. "citydance provided free, six-week summer camps at four sites in montgomery county. "renowned dancer and dance teacher anatoli kucherek joins the school & conservatory as ballet master. "citydance launches a proprietary database, streamlining school & conservatory enrollment, student progress reporting, class scheduling, and other processes. "seven school & conservatory students win top honors at the youth america grand prix regionals in denver, co. "the school & conservatory expands north into rockville joining american dance institute (adi) at their east jefferson st. Location. "seven school & conservatory students win top honors at the youth america grand prix regionals in denver, co, while the school & conservatory wins the "outstanding school award". "over 200,000 in financial aid and merit scholarships were awarded

In the spring of 2015, citydance completed a highly successful second year of the dream alumni pilot program, which delivers weekly dance instruction integrated with homework help, some college readiness, and parental engagement to forty-seven 6th-12 grade graduates of the dream program. Selected students received structured, weekly homework help; high school students participated in a local college tour; and parents committed to weekly phone check-ins. In spring 2015, citydance formalized a partnership with the wooden floor, an organization that for thirty years has been delivering an award-winning model program which aligns a formal dance curriculum with comprehensive wrap-around services to ensure that all students have the academic, college readiness, and family support services required to meet their full potential. Through a highly selective process that included a series of discussions and in-person meetings and site visits, the wooden floor invited citydance to become its first national partner to license and adapt its model. Because of this partnership and citydance's strategic response to its students' requests for support, the organization is poised to move ahead with a bold vision for growth and expansion that includes a three- year ramp up plan to incrementally increase the number of students served; build the capacity to deepen its engagement with students and families through increased dosages of weekly dance activities and increasingly comprehensive academic supports, college readiness, and family support services. Accomplishments: 1.citydance is awarded the prestigious 2015 president's committee on the arts and the humanities national arts and humanities youth program award. 2.in april 2005, the dc government selected citydance and lead developers roadside development and sorg architects' proposal to redevelop the historic grimke school into an arts and cultural center. The building will be a home-base for the dream program when it opens in 2017. 3.citydance has created a three-year dream expansion plan with operational support and training from the wooden floor, an award-winning organization that aligns formal dance curriculum with comprehensive wrap-around services to ensure all students have the academic, college readiness, and family support services required to meet their full potential. During year one, we will expand programming to include academic support, college prep, and family services for 60 dream alumni. 4.in march, citydance opened a tenleytown, dc location with rehearsal space for our dream alumni program as well as classes for youth and adults.

Delivering a spectacular evening of dance all-stars. Renowned dancer and producer rasta thomas co-produces the event, which features performances by world-class artists and includes performances by citydance students from the school & conservatory and dream. Citydance's 2014-2015 season began with the return of the renowned dance theatre of harlem (dth) at sidney harman hall october 17-19, 2014. Hailed as "one of ballet's most exciting undertakings" by the new york times, dth formalized a robust partnership with citydance in 2014 that includes a two-week dth summer intensive led dth faculty. In march of 2015, citydance presented jessica lang dance at the george washington lisner auditorium. In 2014, jessica lang was honored at the 30th annual bessie awards, nyc's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field. In april 2015 citydance presented gallim dance at the lansburgh theatre. Citydance conservatory students opened gallim's run at the lansburgh by performing andrea miller's powerful piece wonderland. The performance of this piece was the culmination of gallim's residency at citydance school & conservatory led by company artistic director andrea long. In the past year through onstage: ignite, citydance has provided a springboard for four talented artists: jason garcia ignacio, robert j. Priore, asanga domask, and sara j. Ewing. In 2014, the artists received praise from the press, and prestigious accolades: "domask was featured in dance teacher magazine for her preservation of ancient kandyan and low country dances of sri lanka, and received praise by dance critic sarah kaufman at the washington post as a "transcendent dancer who carried a whole world with her onstage in her solos.-; "priore was recently awarded the 2015 kennedy center's local dance commission project, and garnered several positive reviews from local media for his works; "priore, ewing, and domask were selected as a group to present "voices" at the atlas performing arts center's "intersections' festival; "ewing received the highly selective dc commission on the arts & humanities' artist fellowship grant. The onstage: ignite program has been refined and further developed to include four annual opportunities: 1.the phillips collection commissioned residency: the museum commissions one citydance ignite artist to create a 45-minute performance in their theatre. Artist receives marketing support and artistic mentorship from citydance. 2.full presenting residency in black box: ignite artist creates a work to present in citydance's studio theatre at strathmore. Artist receives significant marketing/pr support, budget advice and management, production support, and artistic mentorship. 3.non-presenting residency: artist receives year-round studio space and rehearsal time. Citydance provides year-round general brand management and pr support and a minimal level of marketing support and artistic mentorship. 4.legacy co-presenting residency in black box: artist creates a work to present in citydance's studio theatre at strathmore. Citydance provides a reduced level of production and marketing support. Citydance's second annual gala featured performances by dance superstars from around the world. Held at dc's lincoln theatre in may 2014, the evening included philandanco, complexions contemporary ballet, brooklyn mack, north carolina dance theatre, and bad boys of dance. The performance also featured special appearances by citydance conservatory and dream community program students. This popular event drew patrons from across the metro area, garnered rave reviews from audience members and grossed 35,000 in support of dream.
