Ptcb promotes patient safety by serving as the national standard for certification of and information on pharmacy technicians.

Appointment of governors: added "the individual representing the organizations shall be the chief executive officer, executive director, or otherwise highest-ranking full time staff member." article vi. Section 1. Added "a person may only hold one office at a time unless there is unanimous agreement of the six governors. Article vi, section 2. Added "after a governor completes a term as chair, they shall rotate to an at large status, then to treasurer, then to vice-chair and finally back to chair until modified by the unanimous agreement of the six governors." article vi, section 9. PTCB DEVELOPS, MAINTAINS, PROMOTES AND ADMINISTERS A NATIONAL COMMISSION OF CERTIFYING AGENCIES- (NCCA) ACCREDITED CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR PHARMACY TECHNICIANS. THE PTCB EXAMINATION WAS DEVELOPED BY PTCB TO DETERMINE WHETHER INDIVIDUALS HAVE MASTERED THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO PRACTICE AS A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN. SINCE 1995, PTCB HAS CERTIFIED OVER 587,000 PHARMACY TECHNICIANS THROUGH THE EXAM AND TRANSFER PROCESS. IN 2015, PTCB CERTIFIED OVER 31,823 PHARMACY TECHNICIANS AND RE-CERTIFIED OVER 114,000 PHARMACY TECHNICIANS.
