Activity 2

Building and Supporting a Network of Sustainable, Strategic, and Powerful Coalitions: We provide financial, technical resources and educational materials, including financial management and staff support, to more than 45 local Jobs with Justice chapters. We engage our network in strategic efforts to help build and strengthen their capacities to not only engage but also lead effective state and local campaigns in support of ongoing national efforts around an array of workers' rights issues. In addition to offering financial and technical support to our network of coalitions, we also provide leadership development and training opportunities for staff and leaders of our network and facilitate cross-train opportunities across the network.Developing Leaders and Activists to guide our Struggles: We provide leadership development and training opportunities for staff and leaders of our network and facilitate cross-train opportunities. Through our National Training and Leadership Development program we involve our network in new forms of thinking to support and strenghten their work as well as developing credible workers' rights spokespersons. We have over 100 leaders, organizers, and activitists participate annually. We also use our national projects as ways to develop leaders: (1) the Student Labor Action Project develops student leaders and engages them in workers' rights and community campaigns; (2) the Workers' Rights Board Project provides education on our core issues to prominent community and religious leaders through public hearings at the national and local levels.

Activity 3

Cultivating New Strategic Alliances and Strenghtening Existing Ones: We build relationships and collaborate with other organizations and networks to build a grassroots movement of individuals committed to winning social and economic justice. Through our relationship building activities, we aim to develop strategic alliances that help us to reach the scale that is necessary to win real changes. Today our growing universe of partners and allies include labor groups, social and economic justice nonprofits, academics/researchers, civil rights leaders, and policy advocates.
