IRS990/Desc0HISPA VIRTUAL ROLE MODEL PROGRAMMING: THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021-22 MARKED HISPA'S SECOND YEAR OF ALL VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING. AS SUCH, HISPA'S TRADITIONAL ROLE MODEL PROGRAMS, CORPORATE VISITS, AND CONFERENCES WERE REFORMED AND REIMAGINED AROUND THE UNIQUE AND CHALLENGING VIRTUAL MODEL.THE VIRTUAL 'LIVE!' HISPA ROLE MODEL PROGRAM ENABLES LATINO PROFESSIONALS TO STREAM LIVE TO STUDENTS IN PREDOMINANTLY LOW-INCOME, PUBLIC MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS IN WHICH LATINOS ARE THE MAJORITY TO SERVE AS POSITIVE EXAMPLES FOR OUR YOUTH. DURING EACH VISIT (6 HOURS OF VISITS PER SCHOOL PROGRAM, PER SCHOOL YEAR), DIFFERENT HISPA ROLE MODELS SHARE THE EXPERIENCES THAT ALLOWED THEM TO ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS AND SHOW STUDENTS THAT THEY CAN DO THE SAME. VISITS ARE TAILORED TO SCHOOL AND STUDENT NEEDS, RANGING FROM SMALL GROUP DISCUSSIONS TO LARGE AUDITORIUM PRESENTATIONS, BUT ALL EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND INTRODUCE POTENTIAL FUTURE CAREERS. THE HISPA ROLE MODEL PROGRAM HAS REACHED OVER 20,000 STUDENTS TO DATE. IN ADDITION TO BRINGING HISPA ROLE MODELS TO STUDENTS' CLASSROOMS, HISPA ALSO BRINGS STUDENTS TO HISPA ROLE MODELS' WORKPLACES FOR IMAGINE DAY - CORPORATE VISITS. THESE VISITS COMPLEMENT THE ROLE MODEL PROGRAM BY ALLOWING STUDENTS TO EXPLORE HISPA ROLE MODELS' CAREERS. THIS YEAR, DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, ALL THE HISPA ROLE MODEL PROGRAM SESSIONS WERE CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY.IN 2021-22, 219 HISPA ROLE MODELS EXECUTED 427 VIRTUAL 'LIVE!' ROLE MODEL PROGRAM VISITS, STREAMING TO 2,484 STUDENTS IN 53 PROGRAMS IN 34 SCHOOLS. IN ADDITION, HISPA HELD 14 VIRTUAL IMAGINE DAY - CORPORATE VISITS WITH 8 COMPANIES, WITH 80 HISPA ROLE MODELS HOSTING 948 STUDENTS FROM 10 SCHOOLS ENROLLED IN THE HISPA ROLE MODEL PROGRAM. ON-DEMAND VIRTUAL HISPA ROLE MODEL PROGRAM PROGRAMMING: HISPA CONTINUED TO DEVELOP THE "HISPA 20,000 INSPIRATIONAL STORIES FOR OUR YOUTH" WEB-BASED PLATFORM. THIS WEB-BASED PLATFORM COLLECTS HISPANIC ROLE MODELS' STORIES AS WRITING, AUDIO RECORDING, AND VIDEO AND SHARES THEM IN ONE PLACE, ALL IN A WAY THAT IS IMMEDIATELY ACCESSIBLE BY STUDENTS, THEIR PARENTS, TEACHERS AND COUNSELORS. HISPA HAS CONTINUED TO DEVELOP ACCOMPANYING LESSON PLAN PACKAGES FOCUSED ON SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) SKILLS IN HISPA ROLE MODELS' STORIES. THE ON-DEMAND PACKAGE INCLUDED AN INDEX OF THE HISPA ROLE MODELS VIDEOS; THEIR BIOGRAPHIES IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH; AND THE ASSOCIATED SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) LESSON PLAN CARDS, PROVIDING A LESSON PLAN FOR GUIDED LISTENING AND Q&A. TO DATE, 168 HISPA ROLE MODELS HAVE PUBLISHED THEIR INSPIRATIONAL STORIES, AND 73 SEL LESSON PLAN CARDS HAVE BEEN CREATED.MY CAREER STEP BY STEP: HISPANIC AND LATINX STUDENTS OFTEN FACE UNIQUE CHALLENGES, INCLUDING LESS EXPOSURE AND ACCESS TO COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS INFORMATION. HISPA WANTS THESE STUDENTS TO KNOW ABOUT THE HUNDREDS OF CAREER OPTIONS AVAILABLE. VOLUNTEERS FILL OUT A ONE-PAGE "MY CAREER: STEP-BY-STEP" TEMPLATE. USING THIS TEMPLATE, VOLUNTEERS WILL INTRODUCE THEIR CAREERS AND INCLUDE THE SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES AND MILESTONES IN THEIR LIVES THAT ALLOWED THEM TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR FIELDS. TO DATE, 150 VOLUNTEERS FILLED OUT THIS TEMPLATE.HISPA YOUTH CONFERENCES: THE HISPA YOUTH CONFERENCES THEMED "TAKE ACTION! ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS," BRING 150 STUDENTS TO A UNIVERSITY CAMPUS FOR A FULL DAY OF HANDS-ON STEM WORKSHOPS ALONGSIDE 100 POSITIVE, INSPIRATIONAL ROLE MODELS. YOUTH CONFERENCES EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF HIGH SCHOOL TO FUTURE SUCCESS, EXCITE STUDENTS ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE, AND ENCOURAGE STUDENTS' EXPLORATION OF STEM STUDIES AND CAREERS. THIS YEAR, DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, HISPA DID NOT HOST THESE CONFERENCES. INSTEAD, HISPA COLLABORATED WITH 8 COMPANIES TO BRING IMAGINE DAYS TO MORE STUDENTS.ROLE MODEL ENGAGEMENT AND TRAINING: IN 2021-22, HISPA TRAINED OVER 600 VOLUNTEERS FROM THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR THROUGH LUNCH AND LEARN PRESENTATIONS, HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH EVENTS, CORPORATE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS, WEBINARS, AND ONE TO ONE INDIVIDUAL CO
