Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

The president's compensation was independently reviewed by a search committee appointed by the board of directors. The committee used salary studies such as asae's greater washington area association compensation & benefits study (2010-2011). The decision regarding compensation was documented in the meeting minutes. Compensation decisions for all other employees are done by the president. The last compensation review process took place in january, 2010 and occurs annually.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

All documents, including the conflict of interest policy, the governing documents, and the financial statements are available upon request.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Financial accounting standards board accounting standards codification topic 740, income taxes, (fasb asc 740) addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Under that guidance, the partnership may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities based on the technical merits of the position. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the partnership and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business income tax (ubit). For the years ended december 31, 2013 and 2012, the partnership has documented its consideration of fasb asc 740 and determined that no material uncertain tax positions require either recognition or disclosure of unrecognized tax benefits in the partnerships financial statements. The partnership's policy would be to recognize interest and penalties, if any, on tax positions related to its unrecognized tax benefits in income tax expense in the financial statements. No interest and penalties were assessed or recorded during the years ended december 31, 2013 and 2012. The partnership's federal forms 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, that have been filed as of december 31, 2013, for tax years 2012, 2011, and 2010 are subject to examination by the internal revenue service, generally for three years after they were filed.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0ACTION TO QUIT - TOBACCO PREVENTION AND CONTROL - ACTION TO QUIT IS A TOBACCO CONTROL POLICY PROGRAM DEDICATED TO REDUCING TOBACCO-RELATED DEATH, DISEASE AND COST THROUGH COMMUNICATION, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY. ACTION TO QUIT HAS FIVE CORE FUNCTIONS - COMMUNICATIONS, PUBLICATIONS, EDUCATION, ADVOCACY AND MAINTENANCE OF THE ACTION TO QUIT WEBSITE. MEMBERS RECEIVE DAILY COMMUNICATIONS ON VARIOUS TOPICS IN TOBACCO CONTROL INCLUDING UPCOMING EVENTS, THE LATEST RESEARCH, FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES, NEW PUBLICATIONS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, AND OTHER RESOURCES. ACTION TO QUIT REGULARLY DEVELOPS FREE PUBLICATIONS AND MAKES THEM AVAILABLE TO TOBACCO CONTROL LEADERS AND ADVOCATES. WEBINARS, PODCASTS AND INTERVIEWS ARE CONDUCTED TO EDUCATE THE TOBACCO CONTROL COMMUNITY ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES IN POLICY AND SYSTEM CHANGE. ACTION TO QUIT ADVOCATES FOR POLICIES THAT WILL ADVANCE TOBACCO CONTROL, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON INCREASING ACCESS TO TOBACCO CESSATION SERVICES FOR ALL AMERICANS. THE WEBSITE CONTAINS SECTIONS ON WORKSITE, HOSPITALS, SPECIAL POPULATIONS, STATE ACTIVITIES, NEWS, RESOURCES AND MORE. IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0ASPIRIN PROJECT - PROMOTING ASPIRIN USE TO PREVENT CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE - IN ITS LANDMARK STUDY RANKING THE VALUE OF CLINICAL PREVENTIVE SERVICES, PARTNERSHIP FOR PREVENTION FOUND THAT COUNSELING ABOUT REGULAR ASPIRIN USE IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST VALUE PREVENTIVE SERVICES CLINICIANS CAN PROVIDE. CURRENTLY, LESS THAN HALF OF ALL ADULTS FOR WHOM ASPIRIN IS RECOMMENDED TAKE ASPIRIN ON A REGULAR BASIS. IF THIS WAS INCREASED TO 90 PERCENT, AN ADDITIONAL 45,000 LIVES WOULD BE SAVED EACH YEAR. IN ADDITION, WIDESPREAD COUNSELING ABOUT ASPIRIN USE WOULD RESULT IN MEDICAL SAVINGS OF $70 PER PERSON ADVISED. PARTNERSHIP FOR PREVENTION HAS UNDERTAKEN A MULTI-PRONGED INITIATIVE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF AMERICANS WHO ARE USING ASPIRIN TO REDUCE THEIR RISK OF HEART DISEASE AND STROKE.
