Activity 2

Building leadership teams and communities for change. Provided counsel to local and regional groups and individuals as they work for the rights of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Provided guidance and counsel to united methodist congregations around the united states as they seek to be more inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (lgbt) persons. Organized, hosted, and facilitated regional gatherings to promote social justice for lgbt persons in the life of the church. Provided training and education to local leaders to improve their effectiveness in local organizing. Organized, promoted and hosted biennial convocation of more than 650 reconciling united methodists in huron, oh in august 2011. Rmn staff visited reconciling united methodist communities (congregations, campus ministries, umw units, sunday school classes, etc.) and prospective reconciling united methodist communities around the u.s. Providing leadership, vision, and inspiration through public speaking, teaching, and consulting.

Activity 3

Advocating for policy change and cooperating with ecumenical-interfaith partners. Collaborated for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (lgbt) persons with likeminded organizations that work in different religious traditions for change in our faith communities and broader society. Worked to build coalitions within the united methodist church to change unjust denominational policies impacting the church power structures, including the council of bishops, the judicial council, and general conference.
