IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0University of Pretrial: The University of Pretrial (UP) is an online learning community, where policymakers and pretrial professionals can connect and learn together.UP provides 24/7 access to resources, training, and webcasts, along with ongoing discussions about successes and challenges in the field. The ever-growing library provides the most comprehensive collection of pretrial resources available. Regular webcasts address issues from pre-arrest diversion to pretrial assessment to racial bias. Discussion posts allow members to ask questions, share news, and receive support and guidance from colleagues and national experts.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc1The Pretrial Innovation Suite: PI-Con: The Worldwide Pretrial Innovators Convention (PI-Con) brought together the very best we had to offer with over 200 of the people we admire most from across the country and around the world. Our theme was "Break a Few Eggs," meaning that we need to take risks to achieve pretrial justice, and for two days in March, people with a passion for pretrial justice explored ways to do just that. Throughout PI-Con, attendees had the opportunity to take on roles at first appearance and preventive detention hearings in the Innovation Simulation, listen to important viewpoints in our Voices forum and UP Incubator (our version of the TED talk), crunch numbers in the Action Lab, and tackle tough pretrial issues of the day in the Pretrial Challenge.PI-Lead: In the follow-up to PI-Con, stakeholders told us they wanted more opportunities to develop as leaders. So in late 2017, we launched our inaugural class of PI-Lead. The training includes an intensive leadership retreat as well as online convenings over the course of several months, and an online community for regular interaction with course faculty and other participants. The curriculum focuses on politics and policy, communications strategy, leadership skills, coalition building, and defining and achieving success in pretrial justice. We are thrilled to have twenty-five rising leaders from 15 states, in a position to influence pretrial policies in a variety of positions in and around the justice system.PI-Net: Since 2011, the Pretrial Justice Institute has served as a convener of the network of technical experts, key stakeholder and advocacy groups, and individuals committed to pretrial justice through the Pretrial Justice Working Group.
