The police foundation, doing business as the national policing institute (the institute). The mission of the institute is to pursue excellence in policing through science and innovation.

Between meetings of the board of directors, ongoing oversight of the affairs of the organization may be conducted by the executive committee, the membership of which shall include the officers of the board, as well as other directors appointed by the board.

The draft of the irs form 990 is reviewed by the management and officers of the organization, then a copy of the form 990 is provided to each member of the board of directors before submission.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The members of the board of directors are required to complete and sign an annual statement defining conflicts and indicating if any such conflicts exist. The president reviews the employee annual forms to identify if there are any conflicts of interest. The president also reviews the annual statements prepared by members of the board. Steps are taken to resolve the conflict, consulting with legal counsel as needed.

The process for determining compensation for new and existing positions is as follows: the compensation committee approves pay ranges and benefits for existing positions. This is ratified by the board of directors. Salary surveys are performed to determine pay ranges. In january of 2020, the organization commissioned a wage study. The organization continues to use the report in making compensation decisions.
