Activity 2

Research - conducts seminal research in police behavior, policy, and procedure. The foundation has established and refined the capacity to define, design, conduct, and evaluate controlled experiments, testing ways to improve the delivery of police services. More recently, the foundation has developed research projects on some of the most important issues facing the police and the community, and is conducting national and local studies of some of the most innovative programs and cutting edge technologies in policing today. In addition to ongoing research and numerous projects in development, we believe that the police foundation can provide a forum for bringing together practitioners, researchers, and scholars to present ideas, research, and advance current knowledge.

Activity 3

Communication - has four primary responsibilities:1. Publishing the work of the foundation;2. Ensuring that the knowledge acquired through the foundation's work is widely disseminated so that it will have an impact on discussion and practice in the field;3. Conducting a comprehensive public education program designed to educate the public and promote the work of the foundation;4. Serving as an objective and authoritative resource for members of the media seeking context and understanding about events involving policing and issues affecting policing.
