Mission

Dhaan is a 501(c)(3) organization to address issues, meet needs and build an agenda for the upbringing of the linguistic minority sourashtra community.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
The Education chapter runs several programs to provide scholarships and other opportunities for aspiring students who face financial obstacles in achieving academic success. We awarded 500+ scholarships for students in India spanning 60+ educational institutions. We partnered with Madurai Gandhi NMRS women's college in India and initiated a Work Study program to provide real-world experiences leading to professional readiness. Additionally, we started an IIT support program sponsoring coaching expenses for 5+ deserving and aspiring students to help them achieve their goals.$41,099$41,099
The Heritage chapter focuses on providing support services to weavers and seniors with little or no support for essential needs. We have assisted hundreds of weavers in economically backward areas with critical needs by providing clothing and financial support. Twenty-plus seniors/disabled beneficiaries receive recurring financial aid. We have also partnered with local charity agencies in infrastructure/renovation projects for facilities essential for the community: Sri Nayaki Mandap at Thirubhuvanam and Elementary school at Paramakudi.$15,048$15,048
The Medical services chapter partnered with Palkar Hospital Trust to offer free eye camps and dental camps in Madurai, India. We supported equipment purchases and funded eye, dental, and medical camps. 2000+ economically challenged individuals benefitted from the preventive care and about 1300+ of them received free prescription glasses. About 100+ of them received free cataract consultation and treatments. About 200+ patients benefitted from free dental exam.$5,391$5,391
