“The filing organization attempted to file electronically on May 12, 2023, and the Form 990 was rejected. The organization exercised ordinary business care and prudence by contacting the IRS e-file help desk after rejection. The IRS escalated the issue to its exempt organization department and the organization received guidance to wait until the IRS could update its e-file system to accommodate the organization's year-end change. The cause of late filing is due to waiting on the IRS to update the e-file system and was not due to willful neglect on the part of the organization. Once instructed by the IRS, the organization subsequently e-filed the Form 990. Due to the aforementioned reasonable cause, the organization requests that the IRS abate any penalties that are assessed.”
