DURING ITS INITIAL YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED THREE PROGRAMS AND IDENTIFIED THE FOLLOWING GOALS RELATED TO THOSE PROGRAMS: 1) RESEARCH AND STRATEGIC REGIONAL PLANNING - IN COLLABORATION WITH HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, PRIVATE INDUSTRY AND LOCAL UNITS OF GOVERNMENT, OCC WILL IDENTIFY AND COORDINATE, AND IN SOME INSTANCES EXECUTE, RESEARCH INITIATIVES THAT PROMISE TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMIC FUTURE OF RESIDENTS IN THE GREATER CLARK COUNTY, WASHINGTON, REGION; PARTICULARLY ON THOSE NEEDS THAT HELP CRAFT THE REGION'S JOB CREATION STRATEGIES, AS WELL AS CURRENT AND FUTURE ECONOMIC DATA TARGETED WITHIN KEY INDUSTRY SECTORS AND WORKFORCE TALENT CLUSTERS. DECISION MAKERS IN GOVERNMENT, PRIVATE INDUSTRY, ACADEMIA, NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS, AND FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC WILL BENEFIT FROM THE INTEGRATION OF OCC'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RELATED RESEARCH INTO THE REGION'S ACTION PLANS FOR JOB CREATION. CONNECTING RESEARCH TO TANGIBLE JOB CREATION EFFORTS WITHIN THE REGION WILL BE AT THE HEART OF OCC'S WORK TO IMPROVE ECONOMIC OUTCOMES OF THE CLARK COUNTY, WASHINGTON, AREA. 2) PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR MAJOR ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT INITIATIVES - OCC WILL PROVIDE COORDINATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO REGIONALLY SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS THAT PROMISE TO ADVANCE THE REGIONAL ECONOMY, ESPECIALLY WHEN MULTIPLE STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS INDUSTRY, GOVERNMENT, AND ACADEMIA ARE INVOLVED AND CENTRALIZED COORDINATION IS IMPERATIVE TO IMPROVE EFFECTIVENESS AND INCREASE EFFICIENCIES. OCC WILL PROVIDE THOUGHTFUL BUSINESS PLANNING EXPERTISE AND A REGIONAL VOICE TO PROJECTS AT HAND, WORKING TO ALIGN THEM WITH OTHER EXISTING OR ONGOING REGIONAL PLANS, PROJECTS AND ORGANIZATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANIZATION WILL PROVIDE DAY-TO-DAY PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES THAT ENSURE THE VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS ARE WORKING IN LOCK STEP TOGETHER TOWARDS PROJECT COMPLETION. FINALLY, OCC WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING CLEAR, REGULAR, AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS TO ALL OF THE INITIATIVE'S IMPLEMENTATION PARTNERS AND RELEVANT STAKEHOLDERS. IN COMBINATION, THESE SERVICES WILL INCREASE THE REGION'S CAPACITY TO ACT COLLABORATIVELY AND FACILITATE REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES AND PROJECTS THAT HAVE SIGNIFICANCE TO THE REGION'S ECONOMIC GROWTH. 3) BEST PRACTICES EDUCATION AND NETWORKING FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC DEVELOPERS - OCC WILL WORK TO INCREASE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS IN THE REGION IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:-CONVENE REGULAR ROUNDTABLE MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS TO DISCUSS BEST PRACTICES. THESE MEETINGS WILL IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND INCREASE COLLABORATION BETWEEN REGIONAL STAKEHOLDERS. -PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS IN THE REGION THAT CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT FOR THE REGION'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS, IN BOTH THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS. -LAY THE FOUNDATION TO ENABLE CREATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE REGION'S LONG-TERM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY.
