Mission

Mommas Safe Haven provides youth development programming for underserved youth in Washington DC. Programs include mentorship creative arts education trauma-informed activities life-skills development and community engagement initiatives. In 2025 the organization hosted youth enrichment programs community healing retreats educational field trips and the annual DC Youth Got Talent showcase serving hundreds of youth and families

Healing Retreat for Grieving Families to Massanutten provides families who are healing from a traumatic experience such as loss of a child or loved one to gun violence. Families enjoy an all expense paid trip for 7 nights and 8 days in nature with healthy meals support groups meditations sessions vision boards and peace and quiet away from the city noise. This program was support by DC ONSE office and the Woodson Center Voices of Black Mothers Uniter$18,956$18,956
Resilience Academy Summer Enrichment Program provides underserves families with a safe space for art therapy healthy meals with a summer feeding program serving 60 individuals breakfast and lunch 5 days a week. Programs provide safe spaces for youth to develop life skills confidence and creative expression.This includes: program supplies field trips youth activities gas transportation meals food program materials Career Explorations Program 50- 14-16 year old youth Resilience Academy Summer Enrichment Program 22 youth and young adults ages 5-23. Community Summer Feeding Program. An all expense paid Grieving Family Healing Retreat for 7 nights and 8 days in Massanutten Va. Transportation food activities and 2 bedroom condo per family, $56956| Beverly F. Smith President and Founder of Mommas Safe Haven also provided independent contractor services to the organization during the 2025 tax year related to program management and operational support. Mommas Safe Haven follows governance procedures in which any compensation paid to board members for professional services is reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors. Payments made to board members during the tax year were for services rendered outside of their governance duties and were reported as independent contractor payments in Part I Line 13., $0| Juwan Saintcharles serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Mommas Safe Haven. During the 2025 tax year he also provided independent contractor services including photography and facilitation of youth film school programming. Compensation of $1,000 was paid for these services and is included in Part I Line 13 Professional Fees.
