“In response to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Water Underground acted immediately to teach communities about the virus and provide the tools and education to help protect the populations living in the 29 communities that we brought water, latrines, agricultural methods, and education to in the past five years. First, we had to provide our team with masks and sanitation supplies to ensure their safety. The Water Underground team went to each community to teach them about social distancing, hand washing, cleanliness, and all about the Covid 19 Pandemic. We provided antiseptic cleaners to use at the pump sites and latrines. It was emphasized that these strategies had to be used in their homes too.”

“a) Core Program Infrastructure and Training (Total $65,694.72) Water Well Infrastructure ($39,786.34) includes the drilling of four new bore holes in new communities of Chicuacuanini, Ngomane, Chicondzuene, and Nhadlovo; the re-drilling of boreholes in Rovene, Chibanhane, and Murie; and Solar Powered Systems in Macangane, Catine, and Nhadlovo. Sanitation Center Infrastructure ($1,454.99)completed latrine projects started in 2019. Mozambique field team salaries for work, supervision, and training for 2020 projects($24,453.39). Unfortunately, the pandemic affected our ability to construct more projects in the rural communities in Mozambique. Getting machines and materials from South Africa proved to be a huge challenge and quarantine rules hindered our ability to implement our education plan. b) Monitoring and Evaluation (Total $19,732.72) To ensure sustainability of our projects, Mozambique field team salaries (9,963.00) cover visiting prior projects to chart their progress; Repair parts and supplies ($4,886.72) and ($4,350.00) covered the cost of re-drilling Murie and ($533.00) was the cost of labor to repair cement pathway in Ngomane. We conducted extensive M&E in all past communities and are proud to report that all projects are working at 100%. c) Mozambique Community Engagement (Total $23,302.76) Includes the cost of petrol ($14,040.14) to reach all of the communities. Due to the pandemic, monies were spent on Covid Supplies ($5,972.60) and Covid Training by our staff ($2,452.77). Also included are the cost of refreshments and ceremony costs ($837.25). This amount is greatly reduced from years past due to quarantine rules during the pandemic. d)Program Logistics & Equipment (Total $19,356.95) include Auto Repairs and Service ($5,264.34) for the three owned vehicles and one motorcycle. Equipment for the field ($8,706.61); Team uniforms and team needs and supplies in the field ($477.00); and Transport ($4,909.00). Note: Due to the pandemic, transport costs were higher than normal due to the need for bringing most supplies in from South Africa. e) All other expenses ($7,394.75) include bank and transaction fees, HR support, taxes, licenses, dues, and subscriptions.”
