“Line 28 Service Component 1 Code 62410 Education and Training The 13-week three-hour-per-session Walking in Balance with All Our Relations (WIB) training was given to the Ko'asek Tribe of New Hampshire, the Land Justice Affinity Group of Greenfield, the Black Indigenous Nipmucs of Boston, and two other community groups throughout Massachusetts from January 4, 2024, through December 27, 2024. In all, 24 WIB training sessions were completed. 216 people participated in the WIB training curriculum. On January 30, 2024, Strong Oak gave a presentation titled "Walking in Balance with All Our Relations" at Purdue University. On February 28, 2024, Strong Oak presented on Restorative Justice Practices at the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault in Denver, Colorado. Strong Oak Lefebvre gave a training on the Medicine Wheel to 31 participants in Northampton, MA. On March 3, 2024, a day-long training on restorative practices was held in Denver, Colorado, on February 9, 2024. A Circle practice training was conducted for 21 community members in Greenfield on March 7, 2024. Another Circle Practice training was given on March 27, 2024. On March 27,2024, Strong Oak Lefebvre led a workshop at the Colorado Coalition to End Sexual Assault on Restorative practices. On April 12, and April 13 2024 Strong Oak led workshops at CCASA on Restorative Practices.On April 27, 2024, Strong Oak Lefebvre presented a seminar on Indigenous experiences at the Black Women Blueprint online event. One hundred twenty-four people attended the Transforming the Culture of Power Annual Gathering at Woolman Hill in Deerfield, MA. VBCIC gave a training at Sticks and Stones Sanctuary in Connecticut on the Seven Grandfather Teachings. Twenty seven people attended.On August 23, 2024 VBCIC participated in a panel discussion on Disaster Relief and the prevention of sexual assault. On October 3, 2024, a Talking Circle was held at the UU Chuch in Greenfield . Twenty-eighth people participated. On October 16, 2024, a Medicine Wheel teaching was given to 28 participants. On November 4, 2024 a presentation was given in Chesterfield, MA regarding Indigenous history in that town. Twenty-eighth people attended. VBCIC participated throughout the year from January 9, 2024, to November 23, 2024, with the Restorative Justice Coalition of Massachusetts. The RJCMA met four times to develop and inform state and regional groups about best practices regarding restorative justice practices within the state of Massachusetts. VBCIC held six drum practices in 2024 as an outreach tool for its violence prevention work. VBCIC met with the Land Justice Affinity Group seven times throughout 2024 for resource development regarding land trusts and environmental justice.A VBCIC Healing Retreat was held on February 2, 2024 to discuss resource development to improve the WIB curriculum.VBCIC Board, staff and community educators attended. The VBCIC Board of Directors met monthly to discuss sustainability and resource development. From February 16,2024 through December 16, 2024 VBCIC met with Youth Built Strategies in Holyoke Massachusetts to bring restorative justice practices to the middle and high schools in Holyoke. Nineteen meetings were held to develop the restorative justice initiatve. On March 30, 2024, VBCIC trainers met with the Black Indigenous Nipmucs in Boston about how they could develpop an training program in their community.Strong Oak Lefebvre represented VBCIC at the Collective Futures Fund Grantee two-day gathering in NYC to meet with funders who misght be interested in resourcing their work.
