Mission

Community Matters exists to create a thriving and more just community by removing barriers to opportunity. We work alongside our neighbors to create opportunities, engage the community in the development process, create ways to serve together, and re-build the local economy through social entrepreneurship. Community Matters was created from the will of Lower Price Hill residents to address the overwhelming disparity in access to opportunities. All our work is created from listening to the ideas of residents who are seeking to change the current environment of 48% living in poverty, 66% unemployment rate, 90% renters without access to truly dignified housing, and the second lowest life expectancy rate in Cincinnati. Our programs challenge the idea that social services alone are the answer to our needs. Instead, we believe that our community has the ability to meet its needs and to create long-term well-being by investing directly in our neighbors' abilities and expertise.

"Per Minutes 2.19.19: BYLAWS REVISION & VOTE As co-developers for our project with OTRCH, receiving funding to make low-income developments, we must update our bylaws to state: Article II: Part of our work is developing affordable housing. Article III: At least 1/3 of the governing board is low-income (with plan to grow to 50% as our board shifts according to our plan to reach a 50/50 split, per CCHD) Article X: Must host community input sessions for any housing changes, in compliance with HOME Investments Partnership Program ($1m of project will come from HOME). Motion to accept changes to the bylaws has been approved by unanimous vote."

However, it is subject to federal income tax on any unrelated business taxable income. Community Matters Holdings, LLC is treated as a disregarded entity of Community Matters Cincinnati, Inc. for tax purposes and profits and losses pass-through directly to Community Matters Cincinnati, Inc. The Organization's IRS Form 990 is subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities. The Organization believes it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and therefore, does not have any uncertain income tax positions that are material to the consolidated financial statements.

IRS990/MissionDesc0Community Matters exists to create a thriving and more just community by removing barriers to opportunity. We work alongside our neighbors to create opportunities, engage the community in the development process, create ways to serve together, and re-build the local economy through social entrepreneurship. Community Matters was created from the will of Lower Price Hill residents to address the overwhelming disparity in access to opportunities. All our work is created from listening to the ideas of residents who are seeking to change the current environment of 48% living in poverty, 66% unemployment rate, 90% renters without access to truly dignified housing, and the second lowest life expectancy rate in Cincinnati. Our programs challenge the idea that social services alone are the answer to our needs. Instead, we believe that our community has the ability to meet its needs and to create long-term well-being by investing directly in our neighbors' abilities and expertise.
