The rp foundation's mission is to: (a) increase awareness about relapsing polychondritis; (b) provide support (primarily through the use of the internet, social media, and patient advocacy programs) for those who are affected by relapsing polychondritis, support research to advance a cure for relapsing polychondritis; (c) promote quality care for relapsing polychondritis patients; and (d) engage in such other activities in connection therewith that the board of directors may authorize, in all cases subject to the provision of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenu code of 1986, as amended, or the corresponding provisions of any subsequent federal tax law (the "code").

“Rpasf has experienced unprecedented growth and accomplished a number of initiatives, which were consistent with the foundation's purpose. Rpasf increased awareness regarding relapsing polychondritis (rp) through its participation at: -the american college of rheumatology (acr) annual meeting in chicago; and -autoimmune walks (new york and los angeles) additionally, rpasf collaborated with marcelli motorsports. As a brand ambassador and professional race car driver, kyle marcelli, provided rp with presence to an estimated two million viewers in 2018. The foundation established strategic communications and programs with scientists, clinicians and the biopharm industries to facilitate research and accelerate discoveries that will lead to a cure for patients battling rp. Specifically, the foundation: -partnered with race for rp, american autoimmune related disease association (aarda), allegheny health network autoimmune institute, university of michigan division of rheumatology, national institute of health, lupus foundation of america, foundation for the autoimmunity institute, and the benaroya research institute at virginia mason, -was featured on the cover of aarda's in focus newsletter with jane buckner -expanded our network to national organization for rare disorders (nord); and -facilitated a gift to the university of michigan division of rheumatology to send a cohort of faculty researchers to the nih to facilitate the collaboration with clincial researchers rp is an uncommon disease that affects approximately 3-5 individuals per million people. Rpasf's services and programs are benefitting all rp patients and their family and friends.”
