“Detained court: el paso, texas - february 19, 2020- a cameroonian was granted asylum by ij tuckman(the asylum was granted as a result of a successful bia appeal which ordered the ij to grant asylum) el paso, texas -february 26, 2020 a honduran women was granted asylum by ij tuckman as the result of a successful bia appeal; she also won her asylum case initially in 2018 but dhs appealed. El paso, texas - april 3, 2020 ij abbott granted a ungandan women withholding of removal pursuant to ina section 241 (b)(3). Successfully filed 2 bond requests for 2 different pakistanis- both were granted. Both retained sami to continue to represent them in their asylum hearings currently scheduled in sacramento california and el paso texas. Otero, new mexico- march 23, 2020, ij taylor granted a cameroonian asylum. Otero, new mexico- march 20,2020 ij palomino denied a cameroonian asylum claim; filed an appellate brief with the bia; august 31, 2020 bia denied relief. A cameroonian who was previously granted withholding of removal was picked up by ice since dhs claimed he submitted fraudulent evidence. Two hearings were held and ij palomino reversed his previous decision and held he was not credible and ordered him deported. An appeal was filed to the bia which was dismissed. An appeal will be filed in the 10th circuit court of appeals. November 5, 2020 notified lost in the 5th circuit for the appeal for a cameroonian women. Regarding the facts of this case, assisted the maryland bar proceed in disciplinary proceedings against cameroonian's previous attorney who failed to represent her adequately before the ij. The case for the disciplinary action against the attorney is pending. Non-detained court: on account of the pandemic, the non- detained courts across the us closed in march 2020 and remain closed as of may 2021. Filings are accepted and cases can be dismissed or terminated based on actions made by uscis- department of homeland security. Based on previous filings with uscis, one mexican client was granted asylum derivatively through a uscis interview and the el paso non detained court terminated his case. Uscis also granted this mexican wife permanent residency. Filed two i 589's for two different cameroonians; one in maryland and the other in el paso texas. When there were enough days on their asylum clock, submitted applications for their work authorizations. Filed various immigration court filings in the "closed" non detained courts for representing a variety of issues; these motions were for individuals from ethiopia, togo, venezuela, cameroon, nigeria, mexico, el salvador and pakistan. All master hearings that were previously scheduled for 2019 or 2020 have now been rescheduled for either 2021 or 2022. Uscis a syrian granted affirmative asylum on march 20, 2020; assisted him to complete all i 730 forms for his family to join. Submitted to uscis i 539 applications for two students, one a high school student from china and the other an african student from zambia to request from uscis to extend their f1 visa's. I respondent to at least 6 requests for more evidence (rfe's) for clients which included applications for work authorizations, legal permanent residency and i 730's for family members in africa. All rfe's produced positive results. Three of sami's successful asylum clients adjusted their legal status to legal permanent residency; both cameroonians. Contacted uscis-houston asylum office to notify them they had dismissed three affirmative asylum cases in error. Successfully convinced uscis to reopen the cases. One of sami's first successful asylum clients naturalized. During 2020, i have met through zoom at least 6 medical students from unm or the burrell osteopathy college who are interested in learning about forensic examinations for asylum seekers. My presentations are usually one hour.”
