“Detained court: completed and won 1 withholding of removal case for a cameroonian. This case required 4 master filed appeal for asylum denial; appeal is pending. Won 1 asylum cases in the detained court in otero new mexico for a nicaraguan. This included submitting multiple submissions to the court and arguing the case before the immigration judge, questioning witnesses. As a result of winning this case, was hired for two relatives who live in miami. This required filing one change of venue and preparing the full asylum application with supporting documents. Appeared telephonically for the master hearings asylum individual cases are scheduled for 2020 and 2021 in miami. Two appeals that i submitted briefs to the board of immigration appeals were remanded back to the immigration court and won both cases before the court now granting asylum to both; one case required a change of venue to baltimore and participation in two telephonic hearings. The other, from kyrgyzstan, required two more individual hearings before the immigration judge but granted asylum. Prepared and argued 5 asylum cases pro bono; three siblings from el salvador; another young women from el salvador and one young man from honduras. Lost all 5 cases. Some of these cases included preparing motions for bonds that were denied as well as preparing all of the documents required in asylum cases. Prepared, argued and lost an asylum case for a cuban. Filed appeal. Briefing schedule is pending. Prepared board of immigration appeals for 8 cases; 1 from mexico, 1 from el salvador, 4 from cameroon and 2 from nicaragua. Lost 3, won 3 and 2 are pending. Prepared a 5th circuit appeal for cameroonian pro bono; its pending. Non-detained court: filed appellate brief for the mexican asylum case that was lost in 2018 for family of 4. Represented a number of clients at master hearings; one court in newark for two members of a family from ethiopia, filed change of venue motion; case transferred to el paso non-detained court; filed i-485 adjustments for mother, daughter's case pending approval of i-130 before uscis; appeared in el paso court for 4 venezuelans who have pending asylum claims; prepared asylum application and courts have been continuously rescheduled due to trump policy on mpp; appeared on behalf of one mpp individual from guatemala, argued his case that he should be removed from mpp, was successful, he was detained but successfully argued to release him on bond, sami paid 2500.00 bond; his case is currently pending in el paso but he is now in denver colorado. Attended more than 10 master hearings for clients from different countries including belize, nigeria, cameroon, togo, venezuela where all cases were scheduled for continued master hearings or individual hearings to be held in 2020. Uscis: represented one woman from ethiopia at her i-130 hearing. It was approved. She has a pending asylum claim in the non-detained court set for 2020. Syrian who had his affirmative interview in 2018 was finally granted asylum in early 2020. Assisted him to file i-730 applications for his family. Represented prior nmsu student who married at his adjustment interview, he was granted legal permanent residency. Represented two other nmsu students at uscis interviews, they were rejected and referred to court; both were from nigeria. Court hearing is pending. We completed and submitted 4 i-485 applications adjustment of legal status) and 18 i-765 applications (work authorizations) for 2019. Most all of the work authorizations were granted; however, two were denied and have been resubmitted. Attended three local presentations where i provided information on immigration for a group sponsored by a precinct, the jp taylor symposium at nmsu and the dar. Continue to meet with nmsu students who contact us for immigration information. Met with more than 5 students to discuss their immigration issues.”
