| IRS990/Desc | 0 | In 2023-24, PRONTO International concluded several key global partnerships and expanded its U.S.-based work, applying lessons learned from our international programs to strengthen maternal and newborn health initiatives across diverse contexts. Global Project Closures and Contributions: PRONTO completed two major USAID-funded projects: In Mozambique, PRONTO concluded a five-year engagement as a subawardee of FHI360 under the Alcancar Project, which focused on simulation training and sustainability in the Nampula and Zambezia provinces. In addition to the required close-out processes, PRONTO submitted a detailed cost analysis, sustainability recommendations in a comprehensive manual, and multimedia assets-including film, audio, and webinars-to support local advocacy. All materials were delivered in both English and Portuguese. In Niger, PRONTO closed out its participation in the Kulawa Project as a subawardee of Save the Children. Additionally, in Kenya, PRONTO supported Dr. Patience Afulani on her NIH-funded research studying the impact of training on provider burnout. In India, PRONTO continued its support for midwifery education and in-service simulation trainings with local medical colleges. Bringing Global Lessons to U.S. Maternal Health Initiatives: In 2023-24, PRONTO deepened its U.S. engagement, bringing simulation-based training and teamwork strategies from global settings to address maternal health needs domestically. Utah: Project INSPIRE- In partnership with the University of Utah, PRONTO continued its involvement in Project INSPIRE (Interprofessional Simulation Program for Clinical Resilience and Empathy), focused on caring for pregnant individuals with substance use disorders (SUD). Building on findings from Aim 1, PRONTO is helping to develop a comprehensive training package (Aim 2) that includes high-fidelity simulations, teamwork and communication exercises, and case-based learning to address stigma, bias, and respectful care. PRONTO Master Trainers-experienced across both U.S. and global settings-are facilitating 2-5 day train-the-trainer sessions for University of Utah staff and rural hospital clinic champions. PRONTO also supplies all simulation materials, including PartoPants and PRONTOPacks. New Jersey: Midwifery Preceptor Training Pilot-In partnership with Rutgers University and the University of Utah, PRONTO piloted a new curriculum to strengthen midwifery preceptorship through two training events. The program integrates the concept of an educational time out and includes simulation supplies, adapted curriculum, training teams, and remote coaching. The collaboratively designed training aims to increase New Jersey-based midwives' confidence and effectiveness as preceptors, particularly during high-stress clinical events. New Hampshire: Interprofessional Training for Maternity Deserts-Collaborating with the Northern New England Perinatal Quality Improvement Network, the STONE program, Dartmouth Hitchcock, and the University of Utah's LIFT Lab, PRONTO adapted its PRONTOStat curriculum and built a train-the-trainer package for EMS and Emergency Department teams responding to maternal and neonatal emergencies in maternity deserts. PRONTO co-designed the training with local partners and facilitated an interprofessional training in Concord, NH, while also assessing feasibility and acceptability for future scale-up. Washington State: Smooth Transitions Initiative-In its home state, PRONTO partnered with Smooth Transitions, an initiative focused on interprofessional training to improve transfers from licensed midwives to hospitals. PRONTO adapted its PRONTOStat curriculum to reflect the local context and conducted two joint trainings in Lacey and Bellingham with midwives, EMS, and fire department partners.
