The purpose of the souderton - telford community development corporation is to promote the development and marketing of distinctive business and culture opportunities for vibrant downtown communities.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

The souderton telford cdc works to improve the public perception by the public and potential investors of the two towns of souderton and telford. To achieve this goal, the volunteers run several events that have become part of the local heritage. The first is the 53-year-old souderton holiday parade. Stcdc has made the parade self-sustaining through donations by participants and sponsorships. The attendance and the participation has steadily increased since stcdc took over the operation . The indian valley farmers' market at the marketplace at telford station has become an integral part of the local community on saturday mornings from july through mid october. With local farms, bakers, artisans, a vintner and, even, a local coffee roaster, the market is full of local flavor. Each week, the stcdc volunteers hold special events that involve local musicians, demonstrations, kids' activities and more. Stcdc also handles several smaller events like the telford tree lighting ceremony or participate in larger community events. This year the organization added a new annual event in the art jam. This celebrates artists from all areas and brings them into a group where crowds gather to see individual vendors, listen to great music and partake of all the various forms of food offered. This will now be an annual event bringing all kinds of business to the area. The souderton telford cdc also works to communicate with a greater audience about the qualities of souderton and telford. They run two websites, www.stmainst.org and www.ivfm.org, and two facebook pages for souderton telford main streets and the indian valley farmers' market. They circulate an email newsletter at least twice a month full of community events, business news and anything that would encourage readers to shop, work or play in the towns. The stcdc also shares community events with online calendars of local and regional newspapers and other resources. They actively participate in regional marketing efforts through the classic towns of greater philadelphia, www.classictowns.org, and the valley forge convention and visitor bureau's publications and websites, see www.montcomainstreets.com.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4THE SOUDERTON TELFORD CDC WORKS TO IMPROVE THE PUBLIC PERCEPTION BY THE PUBLIC AND POTENTIAL INVESTORS OF THE TWO TOWNS OF SOUDERTON AND TELFORD.
